Bournemouth vs Everton Prediction 29 August 2026

Details
The main thing

🔊 This is the English Premier League, matchday two. Bournemouth host Everton in a match that could go any way. Everton won their opening fixture against Crystal Palace (2-0) and then comfortably beat Preston in the League Cup (4-0), while Bournemouth failed to pick up any points in the first round, throwing away a win in the final ten minutes against Manchester City - leading 1-0 going into the 80th minute before losing 2-1. Were the Cherries genuinely that good, or is City that poor right now? The meeting with Everton should tell us a lot.

    Head-to-Head

📊 The head-to-head record spans 22 matches, with Bournemouth winning 12 of them. The Toffees have won 8, and two meetings have ended in a draw.

    Bournemouth Team Overview

This summer, Andoni Iraola left Bournemouth for Liverpool, with former Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose taking charge of the Cherries. The appointment makes sense: the German favours the same brand of attacking football, but with his own touches.

The core of Rose's system is intense pressing and immediate ball recovery after losing possession. No passing the ball around for the sake of statistics. Win it back, then attack vertically through the flanks and flood the opposition box as quickly as possible. The rebuild is well under way, though pre-season results have been inconsistent: in their most recent matches, Bournemouth drew 2-2 with Betis, then lost to Mainz and Manchester City, both 1-2.

The club spent money on promising young players over the summer. Antonio Silva, Álvaro Rodríguez, Alejandro Jiménez and Juanlu Sánchez have all joined. On the departures side, the most notable losses are Marcos Senesi, Enes Ünal and Hamed Traoré. After their historic top-six finish, Bournemouth have no intention of easing off and are ready to cause problems for the Premier League's bigger clubs once again.

    Everton Team Overview

After David Moyes kept Everton out of the Championship last season, the club's new leadership gave the Scottish manager their full backing. This season they are expecting a significant step forward and a push for European football. Moyes has traditionally built his teams around a solid defence, but he surprised observers this summer by bringing through academy players and switching to a more attacking 4-3-3.

The pragmatic approach built on defensive reliability, sharp wide play and dangerous set pieces is now complemented by a rebuilt midfield. This is expected to allow the Toffees to play a more modern style with aggressive pressing in the opposition half.

The revamped side are already showing good form: in pre-season Everton beat Newcastle convincingly (3-1) and rounded off their summer preparations with a competitive draw against French side Lille (1-1), showing excellent defensive discipline. They have made a strong start to the official season, winning their opening two matches with a combined score of 6-0.

    ⚽ Goals Prediction

Bournemouth are on a run of five consecutive Premier League matches where the total has gone under 3.5. Nine of the last 10 head-to-head meetings between these two sides have also ended with a scoreline that fits that trend. Frankly, the visitors have settled into the season better and, in our view, have more of a cutting edge than their opponents. But the home factor will help Bournemouth hold things tight for long spells when needed, which points to Total Goals - Under 3.5.

    🚩 Corner Kick Prediction

The stylistic tendencies of Marco Rose and David Moyes both lend themselves to high activity down the flanks. The Cherries will be looking to cut balls across and deliver crosses constantly. With that style of play, Everton's defenders will regularly be forced to concede corners. Last Premier League season, Bournemouth averaged around 6.2 corners per home game, while Everton averaged around 4.5 per away game. Combined, that gives a consistently solid average of over 10 corners per match. We think there is value in playing Total Corners - Over 9.5, priced at 1.56*.

    🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction

Given the styles of both sides, the match looks likely to be physical and full of tactical fouls. Marco Rose's model is built on immediate counter-pressing after losing the ball. When Bournemouth push numbers into the opposition box, Everton will look to break quickly on the flanks. The hosts will likely have to stop those runs at the cost of bookings. Our prediction is Total Yellow Cards - Over 3.5, priced at 1.7*.

*Odds are approximate and may vary across different bookmakers.

    ⭐️ Editorial Prediction

The hosts put in a decent first half against Manchester City, scored a goal, and then ran out of ideas going forward, sitting back to protect their lead - which they ultimately failed to do. Now Everton come to town. The visitors' promising start to the season shows they are capable of taking their rare chances and defending solidly against serious opposition for a full match, which suggests they are ready to play as the away side with dangerous counter-attacks - as they showed against Crystal Palace. We believe Everton's good form will be enough for them to avoid defeat here, and we're taking the Double Chance - X2. Predicted score: 1-1.
