The victory over Mirassol was not just notable for the scoreline. Brazilian media specifically highlighted the quality of Leonardo Jardim's side as a collective unit. Carrascal was particularly impressive, and the attacking group as a whole caused their opponents far more problems than in previous league matches.

Flamengo then came through another tough match against Cruzeiro, and the Libertadores progression brought an additional boost - both emotionally and financially, with a significant prize money payment attached to reaching the quarter-finals.

There is a caveat, though: Flamengo are not in perfect physical condition either. This will be their eighth match in the past 30 days, and Jardim has had to manage his players' workloads throughout.
