Rennes vs OFI Prediction, H2H Stats & Statistical Bets 15 October 2026

Details
Key points

🔊 Rennes manager Franck Haise has gone 17 Europa League matches without a win, a run stretching back to his time at Lens and Nice and extended in September by a goalless draw in Graz. He will look to end that record at home, but the opposition is an awkward one. OFI are back in the main draw of European competition for the first time since 2000, and in the opening round they held Hoffenheim to no points.

    Head-to-Head

📊 Rennes and OFI have never met before. OFI's only previous encounter with a French club in European competition came in the autumn of 1997, in the second round of the UEFA Cup. Auxerre won 3-1 at home, lost 2-3 in Crete, and went through on aggregate. Rennes have more recent experience against Greek clubs. In the autumn of 2023, in the Europa League group stage, the Bretons took six points from six against Panathinaikos - winning both away in Athens and at home.

Rennes: Fortress at Roazhon Park and Halftime Turnaround

Rennes' main strength is their own ground. They have taken points in each of their last eight Ligue 1 matches at Roazon Park, winning six of them. No other side in the current championship has a longer such run. That home form underpins their third place: ten of their 13 points have come at home, with leaders Monaco just one ahead. Away from home, Rennes have played twice this season - winning in Angers (2-1) and losing 0-4 in Lyon before the international break.

Ahead of the match against Auxerre, Haise shook up his squad. Quentin Merlin and Arnaud Nordin, who had both started in Lyon, were left out of the squad entirely. The changes didn't have an immediate effect: it was 1-1 at half-time, and Haise gave his players a dressing-down at the break. "Can you hear my voice? I haven't got that wound up in a long time," he admitted after the match. In the second half, Adrien Thomasson put Rennes ahead with a header from a cross from the right. Substitute Boulaye Dia then scored twice in stoppage time to make it 4-1. Before that brace, the Senegalese forward had not scored in Ligue 1 since 2021.

    OFI: Giant-killers with Set-piece Struggles

Big names hold no fear for OFI. In September, Christos Kontis's side beat two favourites within five days. In Piraeus, the Cretans defeated Olympiacos 1-0, the only goal scored by 33-year-old Bosnian forward Kenan Kodro after a run by his left-sided partner. Days later, in the opening round of the Europa League, OFI hosted Hoffenheim. The Germans had more of the ball, but it was Spaniard Aitor Cantalapiedra who opened the scoring. On 84 minutes, Georgios Kanellopoulos headed in from a corner to make it 2-0. After the first round, the Cretans are joint eighth in the overall Europa League table.

In the Greek league, OFI are some way off the pace. After six rounds, Kontis's side have ten points and sit sixth, five points behind leaders Panathinaikos. OFI had a chance to close the gap on Saturday in Athens, but their main weakness was exposed - set pieces. AEK scored all three of their goals from corners, the first coming before half-time. In the second half, Cantalapiedra was sent off for a second yellow card, and with ten men Kontis's side conceded twice more.

    Latest news

    Stade Rennes

❓ Rennes have no injury concerns: ahead of the match against Auxerre, Ez said he had everyone available. Merlen and Norden missed that game by the manager's decision but are named in the club's Europa League squad. Midfielder Djaouï Sissé and forward Issa Soumaré have returned to the squad, with Soumaré going straight into the starting XI. Rennes have a busy schedule ahead: on 18 October they travel to face Paris, who are two points behind them, and on the 22nd they head to Turin to face Juventus.

    OFI

❓ According to the Greek press, OFI will travel to Rennes without two players. Cypriot defender Christos Shelis trained individually on Monday. Belgian forward Aaron Leya Iseka was limited to treatment. The red card Cantalapiedra received in Athens only rules him out of the next Greek league match, against Kalamata. He is available to play in the Europa League.

    Predicted Lineups

📋 Predicted starting XI for Rennes: Samba - Reynolds, Cresswell, Rouault, Nagida - Camara, Rongier, Thomasson - Soumare, Lepaul, Al-Taamari.

📋 Predicted starting XI for OFI: Christogeorgos - Kostoulas, Poungouras, Krizmanic - Dickmann, Androutsos, Bouchalakis, Athanasiou - Fountas, Kodro, Cantalapiedra.

    ⚽️ Goals Prediction

At least three goals have been scored in 12 of Rennes' last 14 matches, and in 6 of their last 7 at home. Against PSG at Roazon Park, the Bretons led 2-0 at half-time before the French champions fought back. Dull matches are rare for Hès's side in Ligue 1: they have scored 12 goals and conceded ten across six rounds. We're expecting at least three goals between the two sides. The bet is Total Goals - Over 2.5.

    🚩 Corners Prediction

More than nine corners have been taken in 13 of Rennes' last 15 matches, and in 7 of their last 8 at home. Over their last 10 official matches, the Bretons have delivered 65 corners, with their opponents contributing 59. OFI threaten less from set pieces: the Cretans have taken just 37 corners over the same span. Their opponents, however, have earned 58, and in Athens AEK beat OFI 9-4 on corners. We're expecting at least ten corners in Rennes. The bet is Total Corners - Over 9.5.

    🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction

Fewer than five yellow cards were shown in 7 of Rennes' last 10 official matches, and in the same number of OFI's last 10. Over that period, Hès's players received 17 bookings while their opponents collected 19. The Cretans picked up 16 yellows across those same 10 matches, with their opponents receiving 23. In the opening Europa League round in Graz, Rennes were not booked once while Sturm received two. We're not expecting five bookings between the two sides. The bet is Total Yellow Cards - Under 4.5.

    📌 Editorial Prediction

OFI rarely lose by a big margin. The Cretans have been beaten by two goals or more in just one of their last 14 matches - a 0:3 defeat to AEK, a scoreline that grew after OFI had a player sent off. They are also capable of finding the net: Kontis's side have failed to score in only two of their last 11 official matches. Rennes are the stronger side at home, but big wins don't come easily to them. Two of their three home victories in this season's Ligue 1 were by a single goal. Even against Auxerre, Haise's side only ran out comfortable winners thanks to two goals in stoppage time. Our scenario is a one-goal Rennes win. That's enough for the bet to land - it only loses if the Cretans are beaten by two goals or more. The bet is OFI with Handicap +1.5. Predicted score: 2:1.
