Celta vs Juventus Prediction, H2H Stats & Statistical Bets 15 October 2026
📢 How will the clash between Celta and Juventus play out in the second round of the Europa League? It is not the kind of fixture you see very often, which only adds to the interest surrounding the match. On paper, the advantage lies with the Turin side. Juventus have a more star-studded squad, vast European experience and are accustomed to competing at the highest level. However, this season has been far from ideal for Juventus, so expecting an easy trip to Balaídos would be a mistake.

Head-to-Head
The two sides have never met in an official match in the 21st century.

Celta are struggling both in La Liga and in the Europa League
Celta Vigo can look back on last season with some satisfaction. The club spent a long time in contention for a Champions League place and ultimately finished sixth in La Liga - a result that brought them back into European football and gave supporters reason to believe further progress was possible. The new La Liga campaign, however, has been far less encouraging: after eight rounds, Celta have just eight points and sit ninth in the table. What stands out in particular is their win count - just one victory, secured before the international break when they thrashed newly promoted Racing 5-0.
They were unable to build on that result. Last weekend, Celta travelled to Elche and failed to score, drawing 0-0. What made it worse was that Elche actually looked the more dangerous side and created more throughout the game, so it would be hard to call the dropped points unlucky.
Their Europa League campaign has also started poorly. In the opening matchday, Celta lost away to Cypriot side Omonia 0-1, conceding the only goal in the 88th minute. The frustrating part was that the performance did not deserve defeat. Celta were clearly the better team, registering 19 shots to Omonia's 10 and generating 1.40 xG compared to just 0.39 for the hosts. But they could not convert their dominance into goals and were punished for it right at the end.

Juventus create plenty of chances, but they keep dropping unnecessary points in the league.
Juventus have little reason for optimism either, at this stage. After six rounds of Serie A, the Old Lady sit only sixth, well below where their squad quality and ambitions suggest they should be. Last weekend the Turin club failed to beat Cagliari away, settling for a 1-1 draw. The match got off to the worst possible start for the visitors: they found themselves behind as early as the 20th minute and only managed to equalise on 81.
Yet the final scoreline bears no relation to what actually happened on the pitch. Juventus completely dominated their opponents, holding 72% of possession and registering 22 shots to Cagliari's 4. The shots on target figures were even more telling - 10 to 2 - as was the expected goals count: 2.01 against 0.57. The Turin side created more than enough chances to win; finishing was the problem.
In the Europa League, however, the Old Lady made a start that could hardly be more different from Celta's. In the opening round, Juventus dismantled Dutch side NEC Nijmegen at home, winning 5-0. Looking purely at the overall statistics, such a heavy victory might seem surprising. Both teams had 11 shots, and the visitors even edged possession - 52% to 48%. But those numbers give no sense of the difference in the quality of chances created: Juventus produced five clear-cut opportunities while NEC created none. The xG figures say it even more plainly: 3.23 against 0.77.

⚽️ Goals Prediction
Juventus can take a long time to get going and may not be at their best in the first 45 minutes, but after the break they consistently find a way through the opposition defence - the Turin side have scored in the second half in six consecutive matches. Against Celta, who have not been particularly reliable defensively this season, that pattern could well repeat itself. We are backing Juventus to Score in the 2nd Half at 1.70*.
🚩 Corners Prediction
For those who like betting on set pieces, there is an option on Total Corners - Under 9.5 at 1.86*. Celta's home matches rarely produce many corners: this selection has come in in 13 of the club's last 14 home games. We are not expecting an exception to that trend here.
🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction
Juventus are superior to Celta in terms of quality and technical ability, so the visitors will look to take control of the ball from the very first minute. That will leave the Spanish side doing a lot of work without the ball and regularly having to stop Juventus attacks with fouls. It is possible that some of those challenges will be sufficiently rough to earn bookings. Our bet is on Celta to Receive More Yellow Cards.

⭐ Editorial Prediction
The bookmakers make Juventus favourites for this match, and it's hard to disagree. The Turin club are clearly superior to their opponents in terms of class and are generally considered one of the main contenders for the trophy in this competition. Celta have serious problems getting the results they need, and now they face a formidable opponent on top of that. Our main bet is therefore a Juventus win. Predicted score: 1-2.
