The former scored twice, the latter also netted, while Marinho added the finishing touch. For the attacking group, this could prove a serious psychological boost.

There is, however, another side to this. Vitória played a very energy-intensive match just three days before their trip to Maracanã. Moreover, according to Brazilian media, Jair Ventura is considering a more cautious system and may opt against starting all three main forwards - Renê, Érik and Renato Kaiser - simultaneously. It is against Flamengo, in particular, that the manager will most likely reinforce the midfield or the defence.
