Villarreal vs Napoli Prediction, H2H Stats & Statistical Bets 13 October 2026
📢 Both Villarreal and Napoli can look back on last season with satisfaction. Both sides achieved solid results and earned their places in the Champions League. It seemed as though the new football year would be a continuation of that success, but so far things have gone quite differently. The first two months have not been kind to either side, and both currently find themselves in mid-table in their respective leagues. In Europe's premier club competition, both teams also made poor starts, losing in the first round. In the upcoming match at the Estadio de la Cerámica, both sides will be playing purely for the three points.

Villarreal and Napoli have not faced each other in an official match for ten years
Villarreal and Napoli have rarely crossed paths on the football pitch. Their last official meetings came back in 2016, when the two sides met in the Round of 32 of the Europa League. The Spanish club came out on top, winning 2-1 on aggregate to advance to the next round. More than ten years have passed since that tie, though, and both clubs have changed considerably in the meantime, which makes those results of little use when assessing the upcoming match.
Head-to-head statistics Villarreal - Napoli

Villarreal are still searching for consistency
Villarreal had a superb last season. The Yellow Submarine finished third in the Spanish league, ahead of even Atlético Madrid. The new football year, however, is going very differently. After eight rounds, Villarreal have just eight points and find themselves down in 11th place. Last weekend the club played an extremely energy-sapping away match against Real Madrid, losing narrowly 0-1. Despite the defeat, the Spanish giants did not look as much stronger as one might have expected. Villarreal put up a decent fight and even had the chance to snatch a draw when their opponents were reduced to ten men, but the visitors were unable to make the numerical advantage count.
Their Champions League campaign has also started poorly. In the first round, Villarreal travelled to Borussia Dortmund as underdogs. The Yellow Submarine managed to score twice but still lost 2-3. Statistically, the Spanish side were well below the Germans, and their second goal only came in the 93rd minute through an own goal, so the defeat was a fair result.

Napoli have managed to turn their results around, but there are still plenty of questions about their performances
The Italian runners-up are also some way short of their best form. After six rounds, Napoli have collected just ten points and are not even in the top six in Serie A. The situation was particularly concerning before the international break, though after returning Napoli managed to improve things slightly. Last weekend they gave Frosinone no chance at home, winning 3-0. The victory was thoroughly deserved. The hosts were in complete control throughout, clearly outplayed their opponents and took all three points as expected. That said, there is no point in overstating this result: Frosinone only returned to the top flight this season, and against sides of a completely different level Napoli have so far struggled seriously.
The clearest evidence of that is their Champions League match against Arsenal. Napoli lost at home 0-1, but the narrow margin bears no relation to what actually happened at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The home supporters witnessed genuine dominance from the English club, who could easily have turned it into a rout. Arsenal had more possession, had 26 shots to Napoli's meagre 5, and created 5 clear chances while the hosts created none. The expected goals figures are even more telling: 3.60 xG for Arsenal against 0.31 for the Italians.

⚽️ Goals Prediction
Villarreal's home matches are consistently high-scoring affairs. In their last 11 home games, the Yellow Submarine have seen at least three goals scored every time. With both sides needing a win after poor starts in the Champions League, there is every reason to expect that run to continue. Our bet is Total Goals - Over 2.5 at odds of 1.71*.
🚩 Corners Prediction
Napoli's away matches rarely produce many set-pieces: fewer than 11 corners were recorded in 10 of their last 11 away games. The statistics are convincing, so we are not expecting a high corner count in the upcoming match against Villarreal either. Our bet is Total Corners - Under 10.5 at odds of 1.47*.
🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction
Napoli have been playing with maximum discipline this season and rarely commit rough fouls. On average, they receive just one yellow card per match in Serie A - one of the lowest figures in the league. We expect the team to maintain that approach against Villarreal. Our bet is Napoli Team Total Yellow Cards - Under 1.5.
🚀 Player Stats Bet
Kevin De Bruyne is gradually getting back to his best. During the international break he impressed in the Nations League, contributing two goals and one assist across three matches. He carried that form back to his club, scoring twice against Frosinone last weekend. It may be worth a punt on Kevin De Bruyne to Score at odds of 4.70*.
😱 Risky Bet
Both sides are inconsistent at the moment: each has its strengths and weaknesses, and neither Villarreal nor Napoli are playing with any real confidence. Both clubs made poor starts in the Champions League and will be careful in every aspect of the game, not wanting to drop more points. Risk-takers may consider backing the Draw at odds of 3.70*.
🎯 Safe Bet
Napoli very rarely suffer heavy defeats away from home. In 15 of their last 16 away matches, they either took points or lost by no more than one goal. Given that Villarreal are also far from their best, we are backing Napoli with a Handicap (+1.5) at odds of 1.19*.
👀 If the Match Goes Another Way
The opposite scenario cannot be ruled out. Both teams made poor starts in the Champions League and may look to defend and avoid unnecessary risks - neither side wants a second consecutive defeat. In that case, the match could turn into a cautious, tight affair with very few chances at either end. The alternative bet is Total Goals - Under 2.5 at odds of 2.30*.
*Odds are indicative and may vary across different bookmakers.
⭐ Editorial Prediction
According to the bookmakers, Villarreal are favourites for the upcoming match. However, that advantage is largely down to the home factor. Otherwise, the two sides are roughly evenly matched at the moment: both have made a poor start to the season, yet both carry a serious attacking threat. Defensively, though, the Spanish side and the Neapolitans alike have plenty of problems, which their opponents will surely look to exploit. Our main bet is therefore Total Goals - Over 2.5. Predicted score: 2-2.
