We'll break down the teams' recent performances ahead of the upcoming clash in our prediction.

    Head-to-Head

    Heidenheim Team Overview

🔴 The "Red-Blue-Whites" may not be at the bottom of the table, but they remain one of the main underdogs of the league (there's still hope for Mönchengladbach). In the last round, Heidenheim traveled to Sinsheim and allowed Hoffenheim to secure their first home victory of the season (1-3). It wasn't until the 75th minute that Stefan Schimmer scored a consolation goal. Three minutes before full-time, he hit the crossbar with another attempt. This defeat marked the sixth for Schmidt's side, tying them with Mainz as the worst teams in this regard. Heidenheim sit in 17th place with 4 points. A loss in the upcoming match could see them drop to the bottom, while a win might lift them one spot higher, but still within the relegation zone.

🔵 The "Red-Blue-Whites" then returned to Voith-Arena to face Hamburg in the German Cup Round of 16, aiming not only to progress to the next stage but also to avenge their defeat in the fourth round of the league (1-2). However, Heidenheim looked lackluster: even as hosts, they were outperformed across all metrics, with an xG of 0.13 compared to their opponent's 2.25. To make matters worse, center-back Tim Siersleben received a red card for a last-man foul right before halftime. Playing defensively, they created almost nothing and managed to hold off Hamburg's attacks until the 80th minute, thanks largely to Diant Ramaj's five saves. Yet, defensive carelessness cost them again as Hamburg earned and converted a penalty. That single strike was enough to advance to the next round and eliminate Heidenheim from the tournament. Heading into their next match, the club could either be completely demoralized or highly motivated to turn things around.

    Eintracht Frankfurt Team Overview

🔴 In the eighth round, the "Eagles" hosted St. Pauli in Frankfurt, marking Dino Toppmöller's first clean sheet victory with a 2-0 win. Jonathan Burkardt notched his second consecutive brace-having also scored twice in the seventh round against Freiburg (2-2). The 25-year-old forward, who joined from Mainz last summer, has seamlessly integrated into the team's attacking line, tallying 10 points (9 goals and 1 assist) across 12 matches in all competitions, with 6 goals in the league. Notably, against St. Pauli, the team allowed just one shot on target over 90 minutes. This is commendable considering Eintracht had conceded at least two goals in every prior round. This victory marks their fourth in the league, placing them in sixth with 13 points. A win against Heidenheim would solidify their spot in the top six, although they won't climb higher as they trail the top five by four points. However, a loss could push them closer to mid-table.

⚪ The "Eagles" also played in the German Cup's Round of 16, where Borussia Dortmund visited Deutsche Bank Park (1-1 after regular and extra time). Eintracht took an early lead in the seventh minute with Ansgar Knauff converting a one-on-one after a pass from Mario Götze. However, defensive lapses early in the second half allowed an equalizer. Eintracht played boldly and had opportunities to regain the lead, but the match went into extra time and eventually a penalty shootout (2-4). Ritsu Doan missed over the bar, and Fares Chaibi's shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Consequently, Eintracht exited the tournament and can now focus on the Bundesliga and Champions League.

    Latest news

    Heidenheim

🎙 Frank Schmidt after the Cup defeat: "Hamburg created the first two serious chances in the game. Diant made two outstanding saves. We took significant risks and wanted to deliver an exciting cup match. The foul was undeniable, and we had to accept it. In the second half, we didn't stick to the classic 4-4-1 formation; instead, we allowed our forwards to roam freely, controlling much of the space and effectively closing down areas. We didn't allow the opposition anything beyond a few set-pieces. We don't want to be seen as sore losers. Hamburg deserved their victory and progression to the next round. But it's frustrating that the match was decided in such a manner. In the second half, we implemented what we wanted, winning all the duels. The team and especially the fans gave everything needed in such a match. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to turn the tide. This disappointing defeat shouldn't break us. We'll try again on Saturday against a top Bundesliga team. If we fight like we did today, we can win even when it's not expected of us."

❌ Sirlord Conteh, Frank Feller, Mikkel Kaufmann, and Leart Paqarada will miss the upcoming match.

    Eintracht Frankfurt

🎙 Dino Toppmöller after the match: "The more fortunate team came out on top. We were more active and stronger. It was a fantastic cup match. We wanted to unleash our energy on the field, play like Eintracht Frankfurt-and we achieved that. The past weeks have been challenging, so it was crucial to show a response. What the guys displayed on the pitch and the fans in the stands was one of the best of the season. We gave it our all, but it all came down to penalties. I'm proud of my players. They played incredibly. We'll rise and continue in this spirit."

❌ Elias Baum, Oscar Höjlund, and Jessic Ngankam will not be traveling with the team for the away game.

    🟨 Referee and Yellow Cards

Despite Heidenheim's frequent losses, they remain one of the most disciplined teams in the league, averaging 1.8 yellow cards per match-second only to Leipzig. Eintracht also tends to play cleanly, averaging around two cautions per game under Toppmöller's guidance. We recommend betting on Heidenheim's individual total of fewer than 2.5 yellow cards, a bet that has won in their last six consecutive Bundesliga matches.

    ⚽ Goal Prediction

Heidenheim have managed just 7 goals over 8 rounds-only Borussia Mönchengladbach have scored fewer. Despite Eintracht's defensive struggles, their last two matches indicate that the Frankfurt coaching staff have been focusing more on this area. Our prediction: Heidenheim's individual total of fewer than 1.5 goals, a bet that has been successful in 6 out of the hosts' 8 league matches.

    🚩 Corner Prediction

Heidenheim rank in the top 8 for corners in the league, averaging 5.4 per game. Eintracht average 4.6. Our pick: Eintracht's individual total of fewer than 4.5 corners, a bet that has come through in their last six matches across all competitions.

    Editorial Prediction

Last season, Heidenheim failed to trouble the Eagles, suffering two heavy defeats, and this match might follow a similar script despite being on home turf. While Frank Schmidt's side has yet to lose by more than two goals this season, they've conceded three goals on multiple occasions. Considering Eintracht's attacking form (21 goals in 8 matches-only Bayern have scored more) and especially the performance of Jonathan Burkardt, our prediction is Eintracht's individual total over 1.5 goals. The expected scoreline is a 3-1 victory for the visitors.
