Tabora United grew from a much smaller football project that first carried the name Kilimanjaro Talented Youth Sports Centre, or Kitayosce. The club began in Ruangwa, in Tanzania’s Lindi Region, before later ownership moved the team to Tabora.
Its rise through Tanzania’s league system took several years rather than one sudden jump. Kitayosce reached the Championship after a strong 2018/19 campaign, then earned Premier League promotion in 2023. The club entered the top division under the Tabora United name and immediately faced Tanzania’s strongest domestic sides.
Tabora United finished 14th in its first Premier League season, then improved sharply during the following campaign. The team ended 2024/25 in fifth place, which marked its best top-flight finish under that identity. Home matches were associated with Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora during much of this period.
Another major change arrived in September 2025, when the Tanzania Revenue Authority bought the club and renamed it TRA United Sports Club. The team remained in Tanzania’s Premier League, but its official identity changed after the takeover. That means older results may appear under Kitayosce or Tabora United, while newer records use TRA United.
