Crystal Palace vs Lech Poznan Prediction 17 September 2026
🔊 Last season's Conference League winners begin their Europa League campaign at home at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace have been struggling to find their form since Oliver Glasner's departure. Lech arrive having come through qualifying in impressive fashion and with ambitions to make an impact on English soil. The bookmakers, though, are firmly backing the hosts.

Head-to-Head
📊 The upcoming match will be the first ever meeting between Crystal Palace and Lech.
Head-to-head statistics Crystal Palace - Lech Poznan

Crystal Palace Team Overview
The Eagles are going through a difficult period of adjustment following the departure of Oliver Glasner, who led the club to Conference League glory. His replacement, Pierre Sage, has yet to stabilise things: Crystal Palace have picked up just three points from four Premier League matches, and lost their most recent game to Ipswich (2-3).
Their home form is also a concern. Palace have won just one of their last five matches at Selhurst Park. That said, their attacking output at home in Europe has been notable - they scored two or more goals in five of their last six home European matches. This is particularly relevant given the significant gap in quality between the two sides, with Lech being the considerably weaker team.
Match Results: Crystal Palace

Lech Poznan Team Overview
The Polish club arrive at their European campaign opener in fine form. Lech came through qualifying to reach the league phase, scoring 15 goals across four matches in the process. They had gone nine games unbeaten before losing in the Polish top flight last weekend.
Niels Frederiksen's side were beaten by Górnik Zabrze (1-2) - one of their main rivals in the Ekstraklasa. That said, Lech's away form in Europe is impressive: five wins from their last six away matches, and goals in 15 consecutive away European fixtures. Getting on the scoresheet is the minimum requirement for the Kolejorz.

Latest news
Crystal Palace
❌ Captain and first-choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson is out until mid-October with an ankle injury he had been carrying since pre-season. Walter Benítez will take his place in goal. Palace's attack has also been badly hit: Eddie Nketiah, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaïla Sarr - all three first-choice forwards - are unavailable through injury. Chadi Riad underwent knee surgery, which is a further loss in defence.
🔁 Update - 17 September, 4:42 UTC:
- At his press conference, Pierre Sage confirmed that Eddie Nketiah and Ismaïla Sarr trained with the main group this week and are showing good signs of recovery. According to the Crystal Palace head coach, both players could be included in the squad for the match. BBC Sport suggest it would be premature to expect either to start. Sarr has not played a single match this season, while Nketiah has missed the last two matches through injury.
🔁 Update - 17 September, 11:40 UTC:
- According to Cadena SER, Eddie Nketiah has been included in the squad for the match. It is not yet known whether the forward will start or remain on the bench. The same source also noted that defender Axel Disasi, who was sent off in the previous Premier League match, will be available to play against Lech, as a red card in the domestic league does not carry over to European competition.
Lech Poznan
🚫 Defender Alex Douglas has had ankle surgery and is out for two to three months, leaving coach Niels Frederiksen with just three recognised central defenders: Wojciech Mońka, Mateusz Skrzypczak and Terry Yegbe. Ali Gholizadeh has not played since May following a cruciate ligament rupture.
🔁 Update - 17 September, 11:42 UTC:
- Antoni Kozubal will also miss the match in England. The Polish midfielder has been absent for the last three games.
🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction
The referee for this match will be Michal Ocenas. His statistics point to a strict officiating style: the Slovak averages 4.5 bookings per match over his career, and his figure for the 2025/26 season stands at 5.64. That said, in his last five matches Ocenas has shown more than two yellow cards only once. Crystal Palace also fit a low pattern: in only 1 of their 5 matches this season have more than three bookings been shown. We are not expecting excessive roughness, and our pick is Total Yellow Cards - Under 4.5.
⚽ Goals Prediction
The statistics point to a high probability of a match with goals. We have no doubts about the hosts scoring, but Lech have also scored in 15 consecutive away European matches. What's more, in 13 of their last 14 away games across all competitions they opened the scoring in the first half. We could well be in for a quick exchange of goals, and with that in mind our pick is Both Teams to Score - Yes at 1.90*.
🚩 Corners Prediction
Palace will dominate at home and apply pressure, particularly through the flanks where their full-backs are active. Lech will look for their opportunities on the counter-attack and from set pieces - the usual approach for the underdog. But does that mean an abundance of corners? Not necessarily. The Eagles have fewer than 5.5 corners in 8 of their last 9 home matches, and as a result Total Corners - Under 9.5 has landed in seven consecutive official matches involving them. We'll go with that option at 1.80*.

⭐️ Editorial Prediction
Crystal Palace go into this match in a difficult position: they have lost their captain and goalkeeper along with all their first-choice forwards, and their form at the start of the season has left a lot to be desired. That said, their superior quality and home advantage keep them as favourites. Lech are in good shape and may find their moments going forward, but that is unlikely to be enough for the Polish side to take anything from the game - that is our verdict. We are expecting an open match with goals at both ends, with the hosts winning 3-1. The best bet is Total Goals - Over 2.5, supported by a number of trends.
