Club Brugge vs Lens Prediction, H2H Stats & Statistical Bets 21 October 2026
🔊 In the Champions League, both Club Brugge and Lens have so far picked up points only away from home. The Belgians lost at home to Aston Villa but beat Inter in Milan (4:3). Lens took three points from Prague yet lost at home to Sporting. On Wednesday they travel to Brugge. Which will prove stronger - the French side's away form or a ground where the Belgians rarely lose?
🔁 We will update this prediction as new information about the teams becomes available. Check back just before kick-off so you don't miss any important changes.
Head-to-Head
📊 Bruges and Lens have no previous head-to-head history. After two matchdays in the Champions League, both sides have three points - one win and one defeat each. Bruges sit 16th, while Lens are 19th on goal difference. Wednesday's winner will move on to six points, a tally currently shared by nine clubs, including both teams' conquerors, Aston Villa and Sporting.

Club Brugge: five straight wins, but fatigue sets in after Milan
Bruges have won five matches in a row and collected 21 points from a possible 24 in the Belgian league. The most striking of those nights came in Milan, where striker Nicolò Tresoldi opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Inter equalised before half-time, but in the second half Tresoldi capitalised on a goalkeeping error to complete his hat-trick. Milan pulled it back to within a goal twice, but Romelu Vermant's fourth goal secured the win for the Belgians. Ivan Leko described that evening as one of the most beautiful of his managerial career, though he was quick to temper expectations: "It doesn't mean you're Barcelona."
Bruges felt the cost of that Milan night just four days later. In the Belgian Cup against Lokeren from the second division, Leko rested several first-team regulars, including goalkeeper Jann Sommer, and the team were saved by a single goal from Felix Lemaréchal. "After everything that happened, it's not easy to recharge the batteries - for the players or the staff," the manager explained. At home, though, Bruges remain a formidable proposition: across their last 19 home matches, they have lost just once - to Aston Villa.
Match Results: Club Brugge

Lens have not kept a single clean sheet since August.
The last time Lens kept a clean sheet in an official match was on 16 August, when they beat PSG in the Trophée des Champions. Since then, opponents have scored against them in nine consecutive matches. Even the win in Prague was hard-fought: Slavia played with ten men for almost the entire second half but were still leading by one goal with two minutes to go. It was Florian Thauvin and defender Ruben Aguilar who rescued Lens, both scoring in stoppage time. And when the attack goes quiet, Lens drop points - both of their home defeats this season, against Lorient in Ligue 1 and against Sporting, came without them scoring.
Yannick Cahuzac, the former Lens captain, has been in charge since mid-September, replacing Dino Toppmöller. Results under the new manager have been mixed: Lens lost to Monaco, beat Lyon, fell short against Sporting, and on Saturday saw off Troyes. For that away fixture, Cahuzac made seven changes to the starting line-up. In Ligue 1, Lens are eighth with ten points, four behind the top five.

Latest news
Club Brugge
❓ Leko has a concern at the heart of his defence. Brandon Mechele suffered a broken nose after taking an elbow in Milan. The defender had surgery on Thursday, returned to training on Friday, but did not appear in the Cup match. If Mechele is not ready in time, Lee Han-bom - who started against Aston Villa - could partner Spileers. Carlos Forbes played in Milan after a muscle injury but was not included in the Cup squad.
Lens
❓ The win at Troyes came at a cost for Cahuzac. Defender Ismaelo Ganiou went off late in the game with a left knee injury and is not certain to feature against Club Brugge. Ruben Aguilar took a knock to the ankle but believes the injury is not serious, while Jean-Clair Todibo was substituted with cramp. Abdallah Sima is sidelined with a thigh injury until the end of November. Jonathan Gradit, who missed the games against Sporting and Troyes, is also a doubt.
Predicted Lineups
📋 Predicted starting XI for Bruges: Sommer - Sabbe, Spileers, Mechele, Seys - Vetlesen, Potts, Vanaken - Forbs, Tresoldi, Virgili.
📋 Predicted starting XI for Lens: Risser - Todibo, Baidoo, Antonio - Abdulhamid, Cuisance, Haidara, Udol - Thauvin, Ivanovic, Kadile.
⚽️ Goals Prediction
Lens almost always score away from home: they have failed to find the net in just one of their last 20 away matches. In five consecutive away games, the opposition have also scored. Bruges, meanwhile, have kept a clean sheet just once in their last nine Champions League matches. In this campaign, Aston Villa and Inter both scored three goals against the Belgians. We're expecting goals at both ends. The bet is Both Teams to Score - Yes.
🚩 Corner Prediction
Fewer than 12 corners were taken in 6 of Bruges's last 7 matches. Their Champions League numbers are modest too: the match in Milan produced eight between the two sides, and the game against Aston Villa nine. Over their last 10 official matches, the Belgians have taken 75 corners, with their opponents taking 36. Lens's figures over the same period are 63 to 40. We don't expect Wednesday's match to reach 12 corners. The bet is Total Corners - Under 11.5.
🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction
Lens players received more than two yellow cards in only two of their last 10 official matches - against Le Mans and against Lorient. In the Champions League, the French side stayed within that limit: two cards against Sporting and one in Prague. Across that run, Lens have accumulated 17 bookings in total, while opponents of Club Brugge have been shown 23 across Brugge's last 10 matches. We therefore expect no more than two cards from the French side. The bet is Lens Team Total Yellow Cards - Under 2.5.
🚀 Player Stat Bet
Four of Brugge's six Champions League goals this season have been scored by Nicolò Tresoldi. The striker has found the net in both matchdays: he pulled one back against Aston Villa and then hit a hat-trick in Milan. He has also converted both of Brugge's penalties in the competition. Up against a Lens defence that could be without Ismaëlo Ganago, we're backing Tresoldi to keep his run going. The bet is Tresoldi to Score.
😱 Risky Bet
Both of Lens's away defeats this season have ended with the same scoreline - 1-2, against Strasbourg and Monaco. On the road, the French side tend to respond but can't quite catch the hosts. Bruges, meanwhile, don't wait until the second half: the Belgians have scored before the break in 18 of their last 19 matches. The risk is high - being out by even one goal kills the bet. But 2-1 is our exact scenario: an early Bruges goal, Lens pulling one back, and the hosts winning by a single goal. The bet is Correct Score 2-1 at 8.00*.
🎯 Reliable Bet
Lens rarely lose heavily away from home: in only one of their last 14 away matches has the margin been more than a goal against them. Both of their away defeats this season - against Strasbourg and Monaco - were by a single goal. Bruges, meanwhile, have not been pulling away from opponents in the Champions League either: both of the Belgians' matches have been decided by a one-goal margin. The only way this bet loses is if the hosts win by two goals or more - even a 3:2 scoreline sees it land. The pick is Lens - Handicap +1.5 at 1.28*.
👀 If the match doesn't go to script
We're expecting Bruges to score before half-time, Lens to equalise, and the hosts to take it by a single goal. That changes if the visitors score first. Bruges would then need to open up, which suits the French side: in the second half away from home, they have scored in 7 of their last 8 matches. In that case, in-play it's worth looking at four goals or more and a bet on Lens not to lose.

📌 Editorial Prediction
Bruges matches in the Champions League are never dull: their last nine have all ended with at least three goals. In this campaign they scored five against Aston Villa and seven in Milan. Lens show a similar pattern away from home: more than two goals in 10 of their last 11 away matches. The hosts will almost certainly add their share - Bruges have scored in 30 consecutive matches. We're expecting more than two goals. The bet is Total Goals - Over 2.5. Predicted score: 2-1.
