Premier League 2024/25 predictions: Gameweek 20

09 Feb, 13:35

Manchester United are eager to put a halt to their current poor form, but it is unlikely that the Red Devils will get back to winning ways as they are coming up against the league leaders, Liverpool, away from home this weekend.

Manchester City got back to winning ways last time out with a comfortable 2-0 win over Leicester City away from home and will only think about maintaining this form when they host wounded West Ham United on Saturday.

This week’s Premier League gameweek 20 predictions were made based on data, current form, and expert knowledge.

Premier League 2024/25 Gameweek 20 Predictions: 04/01/25 - 06/01/25

Tottenham and Newcastle United to display their attacking prowess: Tottenham vs Newcastle United

  • Date: 04/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 13:30
  • Both teams find the back of the net effortlessly, and we expect them to once again display their attacking mastery in London.

Tottenham scored 41 goals in 19 league matches, while Newcastle United scored 32 goals in 19 matches. Both teams find it relatively easy to score goals, and we expect them to display their attacking mastery when they meet in London.

Tottenham vs Newcastle United prediction 04/01/2025: Over 2.5 goals

Bournemouth to get back to winning ways after Everton’s struggles: Bournemouth vs Everton

  • Date: 04/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • Everton are in dire form and have no chance to get back to winning ways against a Bournemouth side that hasn’t lost in their last five matches.

Everton are winless in their last four league matches, thanks to their poor attack. Bournemouth are somewhat decent at the back, having conceded 23 goals in 19 league matches. The visitors are unlikely to score more than two goals, but that’s something the hosts can easily achieve.

Bournemouth vs Everton prediction: Home team to win

Aston Villa to get back to winning ways after two winless matches: Aston Villa vs Leicester City

  • Date: 04/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • Leicester City are in dire form, and they are unlikely to change their poor form this weekend, thanks to Aston Villa’s urgent need for three wins.

Leicester City lost their last four league matches and are unlikely to put in a good shift against Aston Villa, as their recent form has been terrible. They lost 11 of their last 19 league matches, and their poor form away from home suggests they are unlikely to get anything serious in Villa Park.

Aston Villa vs Leicester City prediction 04/01/2025: Home team to win

Chelsea and Crystal Palace to exchange goals: Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

  • Date: 04/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • Chelsea may have a good record against Crystal Palace, but their current form suggests they may struggle against the Eagles as visitors.

Crystal Palace are beginning to score goals, irrespective of the opponents. Chelsea have struggled in recent weeks, as a result, we doubt if they can keep a clean sheet in Selhurst Park. However, the Blues are likely to get on the scoresheet as well, despite going blank last time out.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea prediction 04/01/2025: Both teams to score - yes

Southampton and Brentford to get on the scoresheet: Southampton vs Brentford

  • Date: 04/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • Brentford are poor away from home, but because Southampton are worse all around, we think both struggling teams can exchange goals.

Southampton may have a bad defense, but they are fond of putting in a good performance in front of their fans. This encounter is one of the few the Saints look like they can win, thanks to the visitors’ poor away form. However, we will rather focus on both teams’ attacking threats and see that they can at least shake the net one apiece.

Southampton vs Brentford prediction 04/01/2025: Both teams to score - yes

Manchester City and West Ham United to delight fans with goals: Manchester City vs West Ham United

  • Date: 04/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • Matches involving either team commonly produce at least three goals, and we expect this encounter to follow suit.

West Ham United and Manchester City both averaged 3.05 goals per game in 19 Premier League matches, and it is only logical to anticipate at least three goals from this encounter. Goals are regularly scored when these two teams meet, and we think the upcoming match will not be short of goals.

Manchester City vs West Ham United prediction 04/01/2025: Over 2.5 goals

Arsenal to seek revenge in the Amex Stadium: Brighton vs Arsenal

  • Date: 04/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:30
  • Arsenal lost 2-1 the last time both teams met, thanks to William Saliba’s first-half red card, but they will seek revenge.

Brighton are in poor form, having failed to win in their last five league matches (to say the least). They may have won against Arsenal in the reverse fixture, but their current form is not good enough for their fans to expect any miracle, having drawn four of their last five matches. Arsenal are in better form, with four wins in their last five matches, so we can safely anticipate a win from the Gunners.

Brighton vs Arsenal prediction 04/01/2025: Away team to win - yes

Fulham to bounce back to winning ways: Fulham vs Ipswich Town

  • Date: 05/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:00
  • Ipswich Town may have won against Chelsea, but they struggle away from home, and Fulham are a different side at Craven Cottage.

Fulham are unbeaten in their last five matches, having faced Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea. Ipswich Town won against Chelsea in the last round, but we doubt the 18th-placed side can be that lucky against the Cottagers as visitors. The Londoners are gradually becoming a force in the Premier League, and most times win matches like this.

Fulham vs Ipswich Town prediction 05/12/2025: Home team to win

Liverpool and Manchester United to exchange goals: Liverpool vs Manchester United

  • Date: 05/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:30
  • Liverpool may be the favorites to win the upcoming game, but they are unlikely to keep a clean sheet.

Manchester United are eager to get back to scoring goals, and they may achieve that this weekend against Liverpool. The Reds have a poor record of maintaining clean sheets. They went as low as conceding a goal against Leicester City. Man United’s three-match goal drought might motivate them to get on the scoreboard against their archrivals. Of course, scoring against the league leaders, who have the best defense in the country, should be a boast for any team.

Liverpool vs Manchester United prediction 05/12/2025: Both teams to score - yes

Nottingham Forest to avoid defeat at the Molineux Stadium: Wolves vs Nottingham Forest

  • Date: 06/12/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Nottingham Forest continue to make waves and raise many eyebrows with their unbelievable results, and Wolves will struggle to end their unbeaten run.

Wolves may have avoided a defeat in three matches under a new manager, but they are unlikely to get the win over Nottingham Forest because the visitors have one of the best defense lines in the country. The tricky Trees will push to secure another away win after last weekend’s 2-0 win at Everton, but they may encounter some difficulties and settle for a draw.

Wolves vs Nottingham Forest prediction 06/12/2025: Away team to win or draw
