Manchester United recorded their lowest points in Premier League history this season when they finished in 15th place with 42 points. And as expected, a massive clearout will be carried out in the summer, with some big players getting the boot as well.

Manchester Evening News has reported that as many as 12 players will leave Man United this summer, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to revamp the Manchester United squad to Ruben Amorim’s taste.

The Red Devils lost 18 matches in the Premier League this term. They missed out on qualifying for next season’s Champions League when they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final. A season as horrendous as this is usually followed by a massive clearout, and below are some of the names that the United hierarchy has deemed as surplus to requirements.

12 players to leave Manchester United

Manchester United could allow as many as 12 players to walk out of the Theatre of Dreams this summer, although a few of these players would leave the club as free agents.

Man United's decision to not renew their contracts has led to the expected departure of Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof as free agents. Jonny Evans is said to retire following his two spells at Old Trafford.

Andre Onana, who has struggled to fill David de Gea’s shoes, is rumoured to be among those searching for a new club. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony are unlikely to return to the group following their loan spells at Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Real Betis, respectively.

Luke Shaw, who regularly misses a large part of every season due to recurring injury issues, is poised to find a new club, with Patrick Dorgu and Harry Amass set to fill the void. Alejandro Garnacho was initially part of Ruben Amorim’s project at United; however, controversial comments about the Portuguese tactician after the Europa League final loss to Tottenham have put him on the chopping block. So, he’s increasingly likely to leave the club, despite being a 20-year-old forward with world-class potential.

Casemiro is also available for transfer, despite his top performances in the last few weeks of the campaign. Al Hilal may have offered a lucrative deal to Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, but the Portuguese midfielder, currently, remains very much in United’s plans for the future.
