Five must-starters under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United

Manchester United will be one team to watch next season, especially in the Premier League, given how last season ended.
Man United finished in 15th place in the league and lost their only route to the Champions League when they succumbed to a narrow but heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final.
The Red Devils will do everything within their power to ensure next season doesn’t follow suit, and a big goal like this one requires consistency and passion, attributes the Manchester United team lacked last term.
United have made a step forward in their bid to convince their fans to expect something outstanding next season after the recruitment of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, but they cannot stop there, as some areas in the team need improving.
While everyone related to the club anticipates more fresh legs in the ongoing summer transfer market, it is a good time to analyse the current squad and suggest how many of them can be considered undroppable for next season.
Five must-starters under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United
The Red Devils may not have world-class players in every position on the team, but there are some profiles that Ruben Amorim cannot afford to leave out of his starting lineup. And that is down to the players’ on-pitch qualities, rather than favouritism.
Below are the five names that will walk right into the Portuguese tactician's starting lineup when fully fit.
Lisandro Martinez: The Argentine defender may have missed many games through injuries, but he’s a monster of a defender when fit. He remains unbeaten in a cup final for Manchester United and previously was hailed as one of the top five best centre backs in the world after he helped United beat Man City in the FA Cup final two seasons ago. The former Ajax defender may not be one of the tallest centre backs, but he makes up for that with his unerring defense-spilitting passes, defending and pace. He started in every game he was fit under Amorim.
Bruno Fernandes: The United captain has always been a favourite of fans, players and coaches ’since his arrival in 2020. His leadership, reliability, consistency, versatility, and creativity make him unmovable in the team.
Matheus Cunha: The new signing is expected to start regularly at Manchester United following the departures of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and others. He was Wolves’ talisman, who scored 15 league goals with none from the penalty spot. His ability to give defense-splitting passes, score from range and play in more than one position make him a very important player in the group.
Leny Yoro: The youthful defender is rapidly solidifying his position at the back. He has improved the timing of his tackles, and his pace and height make him a formidable defender both in aerial and ground duels. He can also comfortably play anywhere in the backline, which can be helpful if United are short of quality in defense.
Amad: The Ivory Coast international is likely to get more playing time if he stays fit, but this can change if Man United go on to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. Amad contributed 18 goals for United last season, and if he stays injury-free, he’ll obviously see himself in the team regularly, thanks to his creativity. The young star also is a good carrier of the ball, which is good for the position he occupies.
