    Alexander Zverev Player Overview

Sasha has had much better tournaments in the past, where he played with a level of class, but that's not happening right now. The tennis player's psychological state is affecting his performance. There have been certain issues in Toronto, and this isn't the first time. If his opponents had been of a different caliber, we likely wouldn't see Zverev in the semifinals.

He dropped a set to Matteo Arnaldi, even though it was in a tiebreak, and in that set, Zverev deserved to lose. In the most recent match, he had a tough battle with Alexei Popyrin. The Australian took a set in the same way as Arnaldi but lacked the strength for a decisive push. Although Zverev lost his serve in the second set, he managed to break twice. In the deciding set, Alexei conceded almost from the start. Statistically speaking, Zverev's seven double faults and only 50 percent of points won on his second serve are concerning. Additionally, 30 unforced errors is a lot, even though his opponent committed 45. There are still questions about Zverev's game.

    Karen Khachanov Player Overview

Karen is in excellent form and has finally made a deep run at a Masters event. The brilliant tennis he showcased at Wimbledon continues to delight fans. Expectations for the Russian were much lower compared to his upcoming opponent, so his results certainly deserve praise. His chances of challenging Zverev are quite realistic.

Some were apprehensive about the quarterfinal clash with Alex Michelsen, as the American had made a solid run in Canada. However, the match turned out to be one-sided. Impressively, Khachanov's pressure on return secured his victory, along with his confident play on break points (saving 6 out of 7). One area of concern is his performance on the second serve: winning only 50 percent of those points is quite low. Additionally, it’s worth noting another slow start for the Russian, as he lost his serve at the beginning of the first set. This is something that needs addressing.

    Editorial Prediction

Don't count Khachanov out just yet; it's not that straightforward. Zverev doesn't have much room for error on his tournament path, so we could see a real battle here. As for Karen, he has nothing to lose, feeling both physically and mentally strong, and hungry for victory. We suggest not picking a winner but opting for an average outcome based on the players' form and strength. Our bet is on over 23.5 games total.
