Welkite Ketema has one of the more unusual nicknames in Ethiopian football: the Kitfo Eaters. The name refers to kitfo, a traditional meat dish closely associated with the Gurage area. Founded in 2010, the club represents Wolkite and is also known as Wolkite City or the Workers.

The club's biggest breakthrough came in the 2018/19 Ethiopian Higher League, where it won Group B. Welkite collected 46 points from 22 matches, with 14 victories and just four defeats. The team scored 44 goals and finished one point ahead of Ethiopian Medhin in a close promotion race. That achievement secured its first place in the Ethiopian Premier League, where it faced established clubs such as Saint George and Ethiopian Coffee. Before its debut, Welkite also recruited Ghanaian defender Kweku Andoh, who had played for champions Mekelle 70 Enderta.

Welkite spent five seasons in the top division and achieved its best league finish in 2021/22, with eighth place. Its final completed Premier League campaign was much harder, with five victories and 23 points in 2023/24. The club finished 14th and faced further difficulties before the following season could begin. In September 2024, league officials excluded Welkite because it failed to meet the minimum club licensing requirements. Unpaid salaries to former players and coaching staff were among the problems reported at the time.

Football followers interested in bookmaker promotions can consult the top bookmakers in Ethiopia for welcome bonuses and introductory rewards. The comparison also helps identify different football betting markets and the terms attached to new customer promotions. Some bonuses look especially attractive at first glance, but the deposit amount and wagering requirements deserve attention too.
