UMS de Loum needed just five years to become champions of Cameroon, a remarkable achievement for such a young club. Founded by Pierre Kwemo in February 2011, the team represents Loum, a town in Cameroon's Littoral Region. Its rapid progress through the lower divisions brought promotion to Elite One in 2014, only three years after its foundation. The club had already won the Elite Two title in 2013, which helped establish its reputation in domestic football.
The first major trophy arrived in 2015, when UMS defeated Panthère du Ndé in the Cameroon Cup final. That successful campaign included victories over established opponents such as Coton Sport, Union Douala and Les Astres. President Paul Biya presented the trophy after the final, marking an important moment in the club's short history. The cup victory also secured a place in the CAF Confederation Cup, where UMS faced international opposition.
An even bigger achievement followed in 2016, when UMS won its first Cameroon Elite One championship. The team secured the title with two rounds remaining, after a season of consistent performances against experienced domestic rivals. Its home record was particularly impressive, with the club unbeaten on its own ground throughout the championship campaign.
UMS returned to the top of Cameroonian football in 2019, when it claimed another national league title. This second championship came through the Elite One playoffs and brought further recognition to the team from Loum. The club also reached the Cameroon Cup final in 2017 and competed in several CAF Champions League campaigns.
