Tiernan Lynch's side can take some comfort from keeping the tie alive after a tough trip to Croatia. Rijeka controlled most of the match, but Derry City made just one costly mistake and avoided a heavier defeat. After the final whistle, the manager admitted his players showed too much respect to the opposition - and said the team would play with considerably more confidence at home.

The big advantage is Brandywell, where Derry have scored in 10 of their last 11 matches. There's no point sitting back - they need at least one goal to take the tie to extra time. At the same time, conceding would make things significantly harder, so getting that balance between attack and defence right will be key.

The Croatian side fully justified their first-leg favourites tag.
