Angers vs Marseille Prediction, H2H Stats & Statistical Bets 18 October 2026
🔊 In their last 19 Ligue 1 meetings with Marseille, Angers have won just one. There may not be a better chance to end that run: since the end of August, Marseille have lost six of their last seven matches. But Angers are also having to rebuild their defence almost from scratch. Will the hosts take advantage?
Head-to-Head
📊 Across 23 head-to-head meetings, Angers have won just three times. At home, they have failed to beat Marseille in 10 of their last 11 matches, and in January they lost 2-5. However, last autumn Angers took a point from the Vélodrome. Robinio Vaz scored twice in reply to Sidiki Cissé's goal, but in the 96th minute defender Ousmane Camara secured a 2-2 draw.

Angers: Petkovic on target and defensive resilience after Brest
Angers are 12th with seven points, just one ahead of Marseille. Until last weekend, the defensive record had been a strength for Stéphane Gilli's side: five goals conceded in five rounds. In Brest, that defence fell apart within a single half - the hosts scored four times before the break. Defender Jordan Lefort was then sent off, and Angers lost 1-5, their heaviest defeat of the season.
In attack, Gilli has someone to rely on. Striker Prosper Peter scored two of Angers' last three goals with headers. Against Troyes he converted a cross from winger Amine Sbaï at the far post, and in Brest he headed in a delivery from defender Joseph Kalulu. The problem is that both of Peter's assisters are doubts for Sunday.

Marseille: eight matches, just two wins
"Eight matches already, and only two wins" - that was how manager Bruno Génésio summed things up after the defeat to Olympiacos (0:1) in the Europa League. In Ligue 1, Marseille sit 13th with six points, while leaders Monaco have already accumulated 14. In their last two matches, the scoreline has also been at odds with the play. Away at Troyes, Marseille had five shots to their opponents' 15 and still won 2:0. On Thursday it was the other way around: 11 attempts and nine corners, but it was the Greeks who scored the only goal.
Sunday represents a return to Angers for Himad Abdelli, who moved from there to Marseille last winter. His first six months were difficult, but under Génésio the midfielder says he has become a different player: "The manager has given me a bit more freedom." It was Abdelli who had the final say at Troyes, converting a penalty in stoppage time.

⚽️ Goals Prediction
Angers have scored more than one goal in just 2 of their last 22 Ligue 1 matches. This season they have seven goals in six rounds, three of which came against Auxerre (3-1). Marseille have conceded three times in three away matches. We are not expecting Angers to score more than one goal. The bet is Angers Team Total Goals - Under 1.5.
🚩 Corners Prediction
Marseille have taken fewer than six corners in 7 of their last 8 Ligue 1 matches. Across their last 10 official matches, they have taken 42 corners while their opponents have taken 47. The nine corners against Olympiacos were an exception - they managed just three against Troyes. We expect the visitors to fall short of six. The bet is Marseille Team Total Corners - Under 5.5.
🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction
Head-to-head meetings between Angers and Marseille tend to pass without excessive aggression: referees have shown no more than three yellow cards in seven consecutive encounters. Match referee Jérémy Pignard has shown 11 cards in four games this season. However, in 9 of Marseille's last 10 Ligue 1 matches there have been more than three bookings, so we are setting the bar with some margin - under five. The bet is Total Yellow Cards - Under 4.5.
📌 Editorial Prediction
Angers' home matches in Ligue 1 have been low-scoring affairs: in 11 consecutive games, the two sides combined for fewer than four goals. Marseille have matched that pattern in 9 of their last 10 away matches. In head-to-head meetings in Angers, there has been just one exception in the last 11: a 5-2 away win in January. Marseille will get on the scoresheet, but a fourth goal looks unlikely. The bet is Total Goals - Under 3.5. Predicted score: 1-2.
