Betis vs Real Madrid Prediction 4 September 2026

Details
The main thing

🔊 The fourth round of La Liga gets under way with two clubs approaching this fixture in very different moods. Real Betis won their first two matches but were then hit for five by Levante in the third round. Real Madrid, by contrast, have been perfect so far: three wins, nine points and 10 goals.

    Head-to-Head

📊 The two sides have met 40 times in total: Real Madrid have won 21, there have been 13 draws, and Betis have won 6. Last season, Real won the home fixture 5-1 and drew 1-1 away.

Real have found it difficult at Betis's ground in recent years. In their last five away meetings, they have won just once, with three of those matches ending in draws. The two sides scored only 10 goals across those five games, and on three occasions the scoreline was either 1-1 or 0-0.

Betis's most recent victory over Real came at home - in March 2025, by a narrow 2-1 margin. Despite that, the overall record clearly favours Madrid, though away matches there have regularly proved difficult for them.

    Real Betis Team Overview

Manuel Pellegrini's side made a promising start to the season, winning their opening two matches. Betis beat Real Sociedad by a single goal, then won away at Valencia. The third round, however, brought a defensive collapse - Levante scored five, and the Seville club could not turn things around despite scoring twice themselves.

It is too early to say Betis have a problem, though. They kept a clean sheet in their first two La Liga matches, and in attack they have enough players capable of creating chances through short passing and quick transitions. Facundo Bernal deserves a particular mention - the new signing went straight into the starting XI and has started all three league matches from the first minute.

    Real Madrid Team Overview

The club made a confident start to the La Liga season. After a hard-fought win over Espanyol, they thrashed Real Sociedad and then saw off Málaga, scoring eight goals across those two matches. In the latter game, three of the four goals came in the first half, with Güler adding the fourth in stoppage time.

Mourinho has already begun rotating his squad. Antonio Rüdiger, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eduardo Camavinga, Brahim Díaz and Marc Cucurella all started against Málaga, yet even with so many changes Real had little trouble settling the match quickly. Madrid currently sit joint top of the table alongside Barça and go into the Betis fixture as favourites.

    Latest news

    Real Betis

❌ For the hosts, Giovani Lo Celso, Diego Conde and Aitor Ruibal remain unavailable.

    Real Madrid

🚑 Real Madrid have the longer injury list. Rodrygo, Éder Militão, Ferland Mendy, Raúl Asencio and Tiago Pitarch are all out. The fitness of Aurélien Tchouaméni and Endrick will be assessed ahead of the match.

    ⚽ Goals Prediction

Matches between these two sides rarely pass without both teams getting on the scoresheet. In three of the last five head-to-head meetings both clubs found the net, and the games have tended to be built on open, attacking exchanges rather than cautious defending.

At the start of this season, both sides have questions at the back. Both Betis and Real have already conceded in two of their three league rounds. The attacking quality of both teams, however, is not in doubt. The hosts have Isco and Antony, while the visitors have Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham.

The hosts are unlikely to sit deep for the whole match, and the visitors traditionally create plenty of chances against any opponent. Our pick: Both Teams to Score - Yes at 1.58*

    🚩 Corners Prediction

The visitors hold the advantage in corners. Last season Real averaged more than six corners per match. That trend has continued at the start of this campaign: over three rounds, the Madrid side have taken 20 corners. Betis's numbers are more modest - 14 corners in three matches, an average of around 4.7.

However, recent head-to-head meetings tell a different story. In six of the last seven matches between these sides, it was the Seville club who won the corners battle - including both times in the 2025/26 season. In other words, the hosts regularly push Madrid on this measure. To cover ourselves, we'll take Betis to Win Corners - Handicap +1.5 at 1.70*.

    🟨 Yellow Cards Prediction

On bookings, the total market is the more interesting angle here. Last season Betis averaged around 2.5 yellow cards per match, while Real's figure sat at 2. Over the first three rounds of this season, the two clubs have collected nine yellows between them.

The head-to-head record in Seville adds further weight. In the last five meetings at Betis's ground, referees have shown 28 yellow cards - an average of 5+ per game. The four-booking mark was reached in four of those five matches. Given those numbers, a bet on Total Yellow Cards - Over 3.5 looks logical.

    🚀 Player Stat Bet

Kylian Mbappé has started the season in his usual fashion, scoring four times in the opening three rounds. The Frenchman is currently among the top scorers in the league. Given the forward's form and the number of chances Real create, our pick is Kylian Mbappé to Score.

    😱 Risky Bet

Matches between Betis and Real are often full of intensity, particularly in Seville where the atmosphere adds extra pressure. The high number of duels and bookings in some of their previous meetings is evidence of that.

If the game stays level for a long period, the temperature could rise further. In that scenario, a red card would not be out of the question. For those who like a bigger price: Red Card - Yes.

    🎯 Reliable Bet

Under Manuel Pellegrini, Betis generally do not shy away from attacking football even against strong opponents. That was clear last season, when the team scored 59 goals in 38 La Liga 2025/26 matches. Real, meanwhile, finished the campaign with 77 goals. In the current season Betis have already shown they can be productive, scoring four goals in their opening three rounds. Real currently have one of the best attacks in the league. So even if the match starts cautiously, three goals looks an entirely achievable outcome. Bet: Total Goals - Over 2.5 at 1.38*.

👀 If the Match Goes Off-Script

If the hosts score first, the visitors will need to open up and push forward. As the match progresses, Real's advantage in quality and squad depth will become more apparent, particularly after the break. In that scenario, Real Madrid to Win the 2nd Half at 1.65* looks an interesting option.

*Odds are indicative and may vary across different bookmakers.

    ⭐️ Editorial Prediction

Betis rarely sit back at home, even against the most high-profile opponents. The club tends to meet attack with attack, and that style in matches against Real Madrid often leads to plenty of chances at both ends. Madrid are in good form at the moment and capable of exploiting the space the hosts will inevitably leave.

That said, Betis have their own weapons. Home support and their attacking approach make a goal-trading scenario quite realistic. If the game opens up in the first half, the match could well go beyond the standard total. Predicted score: 1-3. Main bet: Total Goals - Over 3.5.
