Havre vs Brest Prediction 5 September 2026

Details
The main thing

πŸ”Š Le Havre have gone six consecutive Ligue 1 home matches without a win, while Brest have gone 11 league matches without one. One of those runs will end on Saturday - only a draw keeps both alive. The two clubs had contrasting summers: the Normans overhauled their squad, while the Bretons changed their manager. The opening two rounds have settled little: Le Havre have one point, Brest two. The Matchday 3 fixture takes place on 5 September at the Stade OcΓ©an.

    Head-to-Head

πŸ“Š This fixture has been going one way for a while: Le Havre have failed to beat Brest in 8 of their last 9 head-to-head meetings. The only exception came a year ago at home, and the return fixture in March went to the Bretons 2-0. Goals are rare here - fewer than four were scored in 15 of the last 16 matches played in Le Havre. The hosts have also failed to score more than one goal against Brest in seven consecutive meetings.

    Havre Team Overview

Le Havre finished 14th last season with 35 points, kept afloat largely by draws - 14 of them across the campaign, more than any other side in the league. Their attack was one of the worst in the division: 32 goals in 34 matches. The club was restructured in the summer: Demba Ba became sporting director, and Josh Maja, Amir Richardson, TimothΓ©e Pembele, Vincent Sasso and Junior Mwanga all came into the squad. Didier Digard, meanwhile, stayed on as manager.

The new-look side have yet to find any cohesion: after two rounds they have scored just one goal. At home they lost to Monaco, and at Lyon they took the lead through Mbwana Samatta, only to concede on the 87th minute and come away with a point. On their own ground, the Normans have not won a league match since February, and they have conceded in 7 of their last 8 home Ligue 1 games.

    Stade Brest Team Overview

Brest finished 12th in the previous season with 39 points, but that is not what defined the club's year. On 17 June, Éric Roy died - the manager under whom the Bretons played in the Champions League for the first time in their history. His assistant Julien Laçhuer, who has been at the club since 2010, took charge and signed a contract until 2028. The objective has been stated plainly: stay in Ligue 1.

The new manager inherited a difficult situation - 55 goals conceded last season, the third-worst record in the division. The start has been steady on points but nervy in terms of content: two draws, with Ludovic Ajorque rescuing a point in stoppage time in the second. Away from home, Brest's record is worse: they have gone without a win in 10 of their last 11 Ligue 1 away matches, and they have conceded in 14 of their last 15 away games. In 7 of their last 8 away league matches, they have scored no more than one goal.

    Latest news

    Havre

❌ The rebuild was initiated by Demba Ba: the former Senegal striker took charge of the sporting department and put together a new squad. Richardson has been loaned from Fiorentina until the summer of 2027, Maja and Sasso were signed as free agents, and defender Elias Jelert was brought in from Galatasaray on a one-year loan. Gautier Lloris has departed - the centre-back, who spent four seasons at Le Havre, joined Brest as a free agent and is now a regular starter there. Stefan Zagadou and Felix Mambimbi are currently out injured, and Le Havre have no suspensions or red cards to contend with this season.

    Stade Brest

❗️ Lachuer is beginning his first full season as head coach, with Roux's backroom staff remaining in place alongside him. The club strengthened the centre of defence with Lloris during the summer, but there is a shortage there at the moment: Brendan Chardonnet and Justin Bourgault will both be absent. In the holding midfield role, Mamadou Diambou has established himself alongside Joris Chotard - it was he who provided the assist for the opening goal against Toulouse. Ajorque is in good form: four goals in pre-season friendlies and a goal in the last round. The Bretons have no suspensions.

    Predicted Lineups

Predicted starting XI for Le Havre: Mpasi - Touba, Mwanga, Seko - Midzuta, Ndiaye, Pembele, Ouziad - Richardson, Ebono - Samatta.

Predicted starting XI for Brest: Selvik - Lala, Lloris, Le Guen, Loco - Chotard, Diambou - Mboup, Doumbia, Del Castillo - Ajorque.

    ⚽️ Goals Prediction

At home against Brest, Le Havre have almost always been limited to one goal: they failed to score more than one in 12 of their last 14 home head-to-head meetings. Digard has rebuilt his attack, and across two matchdays it has produced a single goal - combinations like that don't come together quickly. The visitors' defence was strengthened in the summer by Lloris himself, who spent four years playing in this penalty area from the other side. The bet is Le Havre Team Total - Under 1.5.

    🚩 Corners Prediction

Both teams produce corners consistently: across the same ten matches, each side averages close to ten per game. Stade brestois 29, have gone over 9.5 corners in 8 of their last 9 away Ligue 1 matches. The margin above the line is slim, but the price justifies it. The bet is Total Corners - Over 9.5 at 2.02*.

    🟨 Bookings Prediction

Over their last ten official matches, Le Havre have averaged 3.6 cards per game and Brest 3.2. The combined calculation for this fixture comes out at around 3.5: the 2.5 line looks comfortable, while 3.5 is borderline. The referee hasn't been announced yet, so we're going purely on the teams. The bet is Total Bookings - Over 2.5 Yellow Cards.

*Odds are indicative and may vary across different bookmakers.

    πŸ“Œ Editorial Prediction

Fewer than three goals has been the norm in this fixture: that's how the last five head-to-head Ligue 1 meetings have ended. Le Havre show the same pattern outside of this fixture too - 8 of their last 9 league matches have followed suit. One or two goals tend to settle things here rather than a high-scoring affair. We're not expecting an open game from this pair. The bet is Total Goals - Under 2.5. Predicted score: 1-1.
