Sochi vs Dinamo Prediction 27 February 2026
🔊 It's the second clash in three days between an underdog and one of the frontrunners of the Kontinental Hockey League. Earlier this week, Dynamo thrashed Sochi on the road with a commanding 7-2 victory, reaffirming their status as the highest-scoring team in the West. Can they replicate that dominant performance again? We break down this KHL regular-season matchup and offer our prediction for the game on February 27.
Head-to-Head
📊 Over the past three seasons, Sochi and Dinamo Minsk have faced off 11 times: the Russian club claimed victory in three of those encounters, while the Belarusian side came out on top in eight. Currently, the Minsk team are on a four-game winning streak in head-to-head clashes, having secured all these wins with commanding scorelines (6-2, 8-2, 5-2, and 7-2).
Head-to-head statistics Sochi - Dinamo

Sochi Team Overview
The "Leopards" have suffered defeats in 8 of their last 9 games since late January, all in regulation time. Concurrently, the Sochi team became the second KHL club, following Lada, to be eliminated from playoff contention. Sochi sit at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, yet in terms of points lost (40 points in 57 games), they still edge out Togliatti, who have 43 points in 61 games.
At home, Dmitry Mikhailov's squad have dropped seven consecutive games. Notably, four of these losses were by a margin of at least three goals. After a thrashing in their first game against Minsk, Sochi now lead the league in terms of lopsided defeats this season (with eight such losses compared to Lada's seven). On average this season, the team scores 2.30 goals per game at the "Bolshoy" while conceding 3.04, indicating that matches in Sochi are statistically not always high-scoring affairs.
The injury list includes goaltender Alexei Shchetilin, defenseman Ilya Nikolaev, and forward Denis Vengryzhanovsky. Canadian forward Jean-Christophe Baudin has also joined the list of sidelined players. Danil Mokrushov and Pavel Dedunov did not play in the first game against Dynamo.

Dinamo Minsk Team Overview
The Minsk team have reaffirmed their status as the highest-scoring team in the West (223 goals, averaging 3.72 per game). Recent performances by the "Bisons" back up this statistic-Minsk Dynamo have scored at least four goals in 7 out of their last 8 games. Furthermore, this season marks the 13th time they've routed opponents by at least four goals. Since the New Year, Dmitry Kvartalnov's squad have convincingly defeated Shanghai Dragons (6-1), Lada (8-3), Spartak (6-1), and Sochi (7-2).
Minsk have solidified their grip on the second spot in the Western Conference, pulling away from Severstal in terms of regulation-time victories. Their gap from the leading Lokomotiv isn't insurmountable, standing at just five points (80 compared to 85). Dynamo will have a chance to close this gap even further on Friday.
Since early January, Minsk's defenseman Joshua Brook has been sidelined due to injury. In Sochi, goaltender Zach Fucale made his debut, while defenseman Christian Henkel and forward Nikita Pyshkailo were rested. Nicolas Meloche and Sergey Kuznetsov returned to the lineup. Vitaly Pinchuk, one of Dynamo's top scorers, is missing the away games.

⚡️ Leaders
The Sochi hockey players are far from the top scorers' list. The most productive player for the "Leopards" is Max Ellis. The American forward, who started the season with the Shanghai Dragons, has tallied 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) in 46 games. Matvey Guskov has caught up with Cameron Lee in the assists leaderboard, with both now having 18 assists each. Nikolay Polyakov scored for the first time since January 16, while Rafael Bikmulin found the net for the first time in 2026.
The KHL's top scorer by a wide margin remains Dynamo's forward Sam Anas, with 77 points (28 goals, 48 assists). The American forward has recorded at least one point in each of his last eight games, accumulating 17 points (5 goals, 12 assists) during this stretch. Alex Limoges, who has also scored in eight consecutive games (5 goals, 8 assists), moved up to second place on the league's scoring list after a victory in Sochi.
🥅 Goalies
Sochi continue to struggle with their goaltending in February. Ilya Samsonov, returning from injury, conceded four goals against Avtomobilist (1-4) and was benched for the next three matches. However, after Pavel Khomchenko allowed seven goals against Minsk, Samsonov had to step back in, playing 12 minutes and making three saves.
On the other hand, Minsk have had much better fortune with their goaltending. Zach Fucale appeared in six games in February, while Vasily Demchenko played in four. Both have posted save percentages above 90% in recent outings. The Russian ranks in the top 10 for goals-against average (2.30) among all KHL goalies, while the Canadian is in the top three for shutouts (5).
Editorial Prediction
Heavy defeats have a sobering effect on Sochi. In the 2025/26 season, before losing to Minsk by five or more goals, the Southerners had lost seven matches, but in six of the following seven, the Leopards scored at least twice. Dinamo, having won nine games previously with a margin of five or more goals, doesn't always follow up a blowout with a secure performance-conceding at least twice in six of those nine occasions. Sochi have nothing left to lose, so as the saying goes, one more defeat won't make much difference, but Sochi's individual total over 1.5 goals should come through.
