The NB I, officially known as the K&H Férfi Kézilabda Liga, is the premier professional handball league in Hungary. Established in 1951, it is managed by the Hungarian Handball Federation (MKSZ). The league is widely regarded as one of the strongest domestic handball competitions in Europe. It currently features 14 elite clubs competing in a double round-robin format. Each team plays a total of 26 matches during the regular season.

Historically, the league is defined by a fierce rivalry between two European giants. Telekom Veszprém and OTP Bank-Pick Szeged have dominated the championship for decades. Veszprém holds the record for the most national titles in the competition's history. Both clubs are regular contenders in the EHF Champions League Final Four. The league serves as a vital platform for Hungarian national team stars and world-class international players. Matches are known for their extreme physical intensity and high tactical sophistication.

Matches can produce surprises when underdog teams beat higher-ranked opponents. This makes the NB I exciting for fans and followers. Many supporters and bettors compare odds on trusted Hungary betting sites before key fixtures. They do this to see how markets view the teams’ chances. Top sportsbook operators can also offer lucrative bonuses and deals for upcoming handball competitions. The league remains a cornerstone of the national sporting identity in Hungary. It continues to attract massive television audiences and growing commercial interest every season.
