The Ukrainian roster once again live up to their reputation as masters of walking the tightrope. B8 have a well-earned history of dragging themselves into last-chance brackets, just look at the recent Cologne Major, where they pulled off a miraculous comeback from 0-2 in Stage 2 and knocked out BIG in a do-or-die round. However, consistency continues to elude this lineup: a slew of careless micro-mistakes in communication and a reluctance to take responsibility often come back to haunt them. B8 are at their best on their signature maps, Ancient and Mirage, but even there their recent stats have taken a hit. The young squad simply lacks experience in high-pressure moments, but they more than make up for it with ambition and a burning desire to win.

BIG have long since shed their identity as a purely German team. Since blameF took over as in-game leader and gr1ks assumed the AWPing duties, the squad have certainly grown stronger, but they're still falling short of the tier-one benchmark. With Benjamin’s arrival, BIG have looked much more cohesive, so it’s time to move past the narrative of “new tactics.” The real question now is how well this lineup actually gels on the server. Having two veterans-blameF and tabseN-on board has done little for their mobility; their map play often appears sluggish and disjointed. Factor in the inconsistency of faveN and JDC, and what you get is a roster vulnerable to any opponent with solid aim-a weakness that ultimately led to their early exit in Cologne.
