Lakers vs Blazers Prediction 7 November 2026

Details
Key points

🏀 One of the most intriguing games on Saturday’s Western Conference schedule takes place in Los Angeles, where the Los Angeles Lakers play the Portland Trail Blazers. The hosts have found some form and won three games in a row, while Luka Doncic continues his fantastic run. Portland are also in excellent form and recently beat the Lakers. Both teams rely on their offence, so fans are expecting another high-scoring game.

    Head-to-Head

📊 Portland have dominated the head-to-head meetings recently, winning four of the last five games. The most recent game took place earlier this season: on 28 October, the Blazers won 136-129 in Los Angeles.

Lakers: so far, so good, but Dončić is two-thirds of the team

The Los Angeles Lakers come into the game on a three-game winning streak with a 7-2 record. They average 121.8 points and concede almost 114, but the key is that their offence runs through Doncic, who has posted remarkable numbers in recent games: 40 points against Sacramento, 42 against Miami and 45 against Toronto.

However, not everything is going so well. Their reliance on the Slovenian superstar has reached extreme levels. The Lakers have an offensive rating of 130.7 with Doncic on the court, but that figure drops sharply without him. The entire system is built around his creativity, and if his form dips, it could all fall apart. Reaves has been playing well, averaging 23.6 points per game. But the defensive problems should not be overlooked either. In their last head-to-head game against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Lakers allowed their opponents to shoot 50% from three-point range and conceded 56 points in the paint.

Portland: Morant’s absence went almost unnoticed

The Blazers have also made a very strong start and have one of the best win-loss records in the West. They know how to win on the road and recently beat Phoenix convincingly. Without Morant (a hamstring injury will keep him out until the end of November), their offensive firepower has dipped slightly, but the Blazers still lead the offensive rating at 121.9 points per game.

Portland have proved the sceptics wrong. Critics had predicted major problems, arguing that four stars accustomed to running the offence simply would not be able to “share” the ball and that each player’s oversized ego would come to the fore. So far, though, the team are firing on all cylinders, thanks in no small part to the relatively inexperienced coach Nori. He has turned potential weaknesses into strengths, and the Blazers now have a deep roster capable of scoring 115-120 points against any opponent. Morant is out, but Avdija, Lillard, Henderson and Holiday are shining.

    Latest news

    Los Angeles Lakers

⛔ All Lakers players are available except Mamukelashvili, who is ill and doubtful to play.

📋 Projected starting five: Reaves, Doncic, Kessler, Williams, Thybulle.

    Portland Trail Blazers

⛔ In addition to Morant, the Blazers have Sharpe and Krejci sidelined through injury.

📋 Projected starting five: Lillard, Henderson, Camara, Avdija, Clingan.

    First Quarter Prediction

The Los Angeles Lakers have won the first quarter in 6 of their last 10 games, while the Portland Trail Blazers have done so in 4 of 10. The hosts have also won the first quarter in five home games this season, compared with two such away wins for the visitors. We pick the Lakers to win the first quarter at odds of 1.67.

    Prediction on the outcome

Portland covered a -2.5 handicap in six of their last seven games, winning each of those six games. We’re backing the Blazers to win the game at odds of 2.26.

    Total Points Prediction

Over 231.5 total points has landed in five consecutive Lakers home games. In home games this season, the Lakers have averaged 124.2 points scored and 118.7 conceded. Portland have averaged 122 points scored and 113.4 conceded away from home. We pick Over 231.5 Total Points at odds of 1.77.

    Risky bet

Portland have covered a -2.5 handicap in 6 of their last 7 NBA games. The Lakers have won 7 of their last 10 games, though, so backing the visitors to win by at least three points is riskier than backing them to win without a handicap. For those who prefer higher odds, we recommend the Blazers -2.5 handicap at odds of 2.40.

    Top scorers

Doncic is enjoying the highest-scoring stretch of his career. He has consistently scored more than 40 points in recent games and is averaging over 38 for the season. Against Portland, whom he has already got the better of in individual matchups, the Slovenian will once again take a high volume of shots and free throws. Given his current form, bookmakers have raised the line for Luka’s points, but we think Doncic Player Points Over 35.5 at odds of 1.94* is worth considering.

*Odds are approximate and may vary between bookmakers.

    ⭐ Editor’s prediction

The Lakers will run their offence through Doncic, making extensive use of his assists and drives. Portland will try to play at a high pace and capitalise on transition opportunities. The visitors managed to make a game of it and win their first meeting of the season, but the hosts look slightly more assured now. Still, we think betting on the winner is too risky, as the teams are broadly evenly matched. We expect an open game with plenty of three-pointers and a high tempo throughout all 48 minutes. Given that outlook, Total Points Over 228.5 is a reasonable bet.
