Serie A Predictions: Round 33: 19/04-21/04

09 Feb, 13:35

Inter Milan bounced back to winning ways last weekend following an effortless 3-1 win over Cagliari at home, but they have a tricky game away to Bologna this weekend. The Black and Blues are only three points above Napoli in second place and cannot afford to drop points this weekend. Will their participation in the Champions League against Bayern Munich on Wednesday affect them mentally this weekend?

Napoli also bounced back to winning ways on Monday night when they scored unanswered goals against Empoli at home. They maintain their three-point gap behind Inter at the top of the standings, but they have an easier game (vs Monza away) compared to Inter’s trip to Bologna this weekend. Will Napoli reduce the deficits in this round?

We analysed this round’s Serie A matches and made the best possible predictions. Our predictions are based on data, current form, and expert knowledge.

Serie A gameweek 33 predictions: 19/04/2025 - 21/04/2025

Both teams will be cautioned by the referee: Lecce vs Como

  • Date: 19/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:00 CET
  • Both teams exchanged many punches the last time they met, and we cannot rule out the same from happening in the return leg.

Lecce and Como have only met once in Serie A, and the encounter was one to behold. Como may have won the reverse fixture 2-0 in front of their fans, but we doubt they would be that dominant away from home. We took a close look at the encounter and found out that both teams regularly made many late tackles, which resulted in five yellow cards. We cannot rule out the same things from happening this weekend, so expecting at least four yellow cards from both teams shouldn’t be a stretch.

Lecce vs Como prediction: Total yellow cards – over 3.5

Scott McTominay to trouble the goalkeeper: Monza vs Napoli

  • Date: 19/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:00 CET
  • Napoli may have a decent record against Monza, but we feel betting on a player looks easier, thanks to McTominay’s current form.

Napoli needed something extraordinary in their last game against Empoli, and Scott McTominay was the answer. The former Manchester United midfielder scored twice as Napoli won the tie 3-0. Not just that game against Empoli where the Scot has displayed his attacking attributes, but in most of the games he’s played in his career, he’s somewhat of a threat. He had five shots against Empoli, and expecting him to have at least three attempts on goal (not on target) shouldn’t raise many eyebrows. He plays with a lot of freedom now, and that explains why he doesn’t break a sweat shooting towards the goal

Monza vs Napoli prediction: Scott McTominay total shots on goal – over 2.5

Goals will come in excess: AS Roma vs Hellas Verona

  • Date: 19/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:45 CET
  • Both teams effortlessly entertain fans with goals when they share the pitch, so we are counting on them to do the same this weekend.

AS Roma and Hellas Verona have crossed paths many times in this competition, but we narrowed the nature of these meetings to their last few encounters. SIn their last 11 Serie A meetings, 10 encounters concluded with over 2.5 goals, and both teams have scored in eight of their last 10 matches. It is widely agreed that AS Roma are a difficult side to score goals against, and their recent performances suggest this encounter will be cagey for both teams. However, some teams find it relatively easy to get around one certain opponent, and in this case, Verona have done that many times against the Romans. So we can expect goals on both ends, or at least three goals will be scored in the upcoming game.

AS Roma vs Hellas Verona prediction: Total goals – over 2.5

Empoli and Venezia will score against each other: Empoli vs Venezia

  • Date: 20/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:00 CET
  • Both teams usually find the back of the net when they come up against each other, and their struggles at the back suggest the same may happen this weekend.

Both teams have a short list of Serie A meetings, but despite that, there’s a consistent trend in their encounters. They scored against themselves in all five matches, although two of those games took place in the 1998/99 season. We can easily anticipate a draw from this encounter, as three of their five meetings ended in draws, but with both teams struggling at the back, expecting goals from both clubs appears to be a safer tip.

Empoli vs Venezia prediction: Both teams to score – yes

Bologna and Inter Milan will exchange goals: Bologna vs Inter Milan

  • Date: 20/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:00 CET
  • Inter Milan have struggled against Bologna, and we think the struggles will continue this weekend.

Bologna have been a difficult nut to crack against Inter Milan in recent seasons. They held Inter to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture. Furthermore, in Inter’s last trips to Bologna, they won just once and lost twice. Simone Inzaghi’s side will participate in the Champions League on Wednesday against Bayern Munich and, as a result, will be short on energy to play against a Bologna side that has been rested for six days. There’s a huge difference in energy between both teams, and whilst the visitors remain the favourites to come out on top, we doubt they will keep a clean sheet. And for the record, both teams scored against each other in three of their last five meetings.

Bologna vs Inter Milan prediction: Both teams to score – yes

AC Milan and Atalanta to delight fans with goals: AC Milan vs Atalanta

  • Date: 20/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:45 CET
  • Both teams struggle to keep their defense in order when they come up against each other in this competition.

AC Milan succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Atalanta in the reverse fixture last year, so we expect them to put in a much-improved performance in the return leg in front of their fans. According to the bookies, Milan are the favourites to win the encounter, but their previous encounters with Ademola Lookman’s side suggest this meeting will be tough for both teams. Both teams are pushing for a place in the top four, and if that’s not enough reason to anticipate quality attacking football from both clubs this weekend, then there are top-quality attackers from both teams, like Lookman and De Ketelaere of Atalanta and Rafael Leao of Milan, who can decide games from any position. Also, both teams exchanged goals in four of their last five meetings, so expecting the same from the upcoming game isn’t delusional.

AC Milan vs Atalanta prediction: Both teams to score – yes

Both teams will be cautioned many times: Torino vs Udinese

  • Date: 21/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 12:30 CET
  • Both teams regularly make many rash tackles, and we expect the referee to be busy next Monday in Turin.

Torino and Udinese make many fouls when they cross paths, and they are likely to repeat the same in the upcoming game. We looked at their last five league meetings and found out that they committed 127 fouls and attracted 19 yellow cards. This encounter will be tight for both teams to dominate due to the nonstop tackles in the middle of the park. There’s a chance both teams can produce 20+ fouls or receive 4+ yellow cards on Monday, and any option you pick looks reasonable. However, we chose the latter because we believe there would be many late rash tackles, a few verbal altercations, and professional delays in restarting the game.

Torino vs Udinese prediction: Total yellow cards – over 3.5

Fiorentina are to be cautioned at least three times: Cagliari vs Fiorentina

  • Date: 21/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:00 CET
  • Fiorentina make too many rash tackles when they face Cagliari away from home, and we don’t rule them out from making the same mistake on Monday.

Cagliari and Fiorentina have met many times in Serie A, and this encounter will be intriguing for the visitors, as they still have eyes for the top four spots. The Florence side will compete in the Conference League this Thursday and will have enough time to rest for their league game on Monday. We took a look at Florentina’s last five visits to Cagliari and found out that they easily get cautioned by the referee, receiving 25 yellow cards. On average, the two-time Conference League finalists received 5.0 yellow cards per game, so expecting them to receive at least three on Monday isn’t a stretch.

Cagliari vs Fiorentina prediction: Away team total yellow cards – over 2.5

Lazio to bounce back to winning ways: Genoa vs Lazio

  • Date: 21/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:00 CET
  • Lazio may have endured mixed reactions recently, but they enjoy coming up against this side, and we expect them to come away with a win on Monday.

Lazio and Genoa have crossed paths many times in this competition, and the Romans’ last few visits to this stadium reflect the nature of these meetings. Lazio won their last two visits to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium and lost just once in their previous five visits (3W1D1L). Genoa play defensive football under Patrick Vieira and are unlikely to score more than two goals against the White and Blues outfit, so backing the visitors to snatch a narrow win isn’t a stretch.

Genoa vs Lazio prediction: Away team to win

Corner kicks to come in excess: Parma vs Juventus

  • Date: 21/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:45 CET
  • Parma and Juventus effortlessly create chances from the flags, and we expect many corners to be won on Monday when they meet.

Juventus are the favourites to win this encounter, and their current form suggests they are likely to prove the bookies right. However, we found something intriguing about this fixture. In their last five meetings in Serie A, both teams combined to produce 70 corners, which is 14 corners per game on average. We can be delusional to expect at least 10 corners from the upcoming game, but we will take the risk, though. Banking on Juve to win this tie is also a brilliant pick, having won four and drawn one of their last five league meetings.

Parma vs Juventus prediction: Total corners – over 9.5
