Predictions for the 24th round of Serie A, February 6-9

09 Feb, 13:35

Verona – Pisa

The 24th round of Serie A will kick off with a clash between the two main underdogs of the championship. Verona and Pisa are at the bottom of the league table, each having only 14 points. The season has long passed its midpoint, and the time to rectify the situation is running out, making each such encounter almost decisive. A head-to-head duel is not just an opportunity to add three points to the tally but also a chance to leave a direct competitor with nothing. The cost of a mistake here is extremely high, which means caution and pragmatism will come to the forefront.

Match prediction for Verona – Pisa: total under 2.5 goals

Genoa – Napoli

Genoa and Napoli are positioned on different halves of the league table and are pursuing fundamentally different objectives. However, recently it is the "Griffins" who have looked more convincing than the reigning champion. Their five-match unbeaten streak was only broken in the last round: the team lost to Lazio away with a score of 2:3, conceding the decisive goal in the 90+10th minute from a penalty. The Neapolitans are far from their optimal form and make defensive errors in almost every match, so the hosts are quite capable of putting up a fight and creating serious problems for their opponent.

Match prediction for Genoa – Napoli: the hosts will score

Fiorentina – Torino

Fiorentina and Torino approach their head-to-head meeting in far from the best condition. The "Violas" have returned to their default settings after a relatively successful run of matches and face their opponent on the back of a three-match losing streak. The "Bulls" are not much better off: in the last five Serie A rounds, the Turin side lost four times, managing to defeat only Lecce (1:0) – a team that has been losing to almost everyone this season. Both sides have noticeable defensive issues, so it is logical to expect that the opponents will manage to exchange goals.

Match prediction for Fiorentina – Torino: both teams to score

Bologna – Parma

Bologna continues to disappoint its fans. In the last 11 matches, the team has secured only two victories – against bottom-placed Verona (3:2) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (3:0), which finished the group stage of the Europa League with just one point. In the previous round, the "Red and Blues" were completely thrashed at home by Milan with a score of 0:3. However, Parma is also far from their best form: no wins in the last four rounds, and the last two matches against Atalanta and Juventus ended in defeats with a combined score of 1:8. If Bologna fails to achieve a positive result against such an opponent at their home stadium, talks about personnel changes in the coaching staff will become almost inevitable.

Match prediction for Bologna – Parma: victory for the home team

Lecce – Udinese

Lecce has not tasted victory in eight consecutive matches. During this stretch, the team suffered six defeats, five of which were without scoring a goal. Udinese, on the other hand, approaches the upcoming match in much higher spirits: the "Little Zebras" have won their last two matches, including a solid victory over Roma (1:0). Currently, the visitors appear significantly stronger than their opponents, especially considering that Udinese emerged victorious in the last four head-to-head encounters between these teams.

Match prediction for Lecce – Udinese: victory for the visitors with a (0) handicap

Sassuolo – Inter

Inter has been performing flawlessly in the championship recently. In the last 11 Serie A matches, the team has secured 10 victories, with only one slip-up – a draw with Napoli (2:2). Moreover, the "Nerazzurri" often keep a clean sheet: in the last four rounds, the Milan side conceded only one goal – from Pisa in a 6:2 thrashing. Therefore, Sassuolo, even with the support of their home crowd, is unlikely to pose a serious challenge to Inter.

Match prediction for Sassuolo – Inter: victory for the visitors

Juventus – Lazio

Lazio has noticeably slowed down since mid-December. In the last eight matches, the team has achieved only two victories – against Verona (1:0) and Genoa (3:2), both of which are fiercely fighting for survival. The success against the "Griffins" was secured by a penalty in the 90+10th minute: without this episode, the match would have ended in a draw for the "Eagles" once again. Juventus, however, continues to maintain high standards and shows consistency, rarely making mistakes, especially at home. The Turin side looks like the clear favorite and should secure the three points.

Match prediction for Juventus – Lazio: victory for the home team

Atalanta – Cremonese

Cremonese has looked completely lost in the past month and a half. The team approaches the upcoming match with a streak of nine winless games, failing to score even once in eight of them. Atalanta has also slowed down somewhat after a strong run, where even draws were rare for them. However, if the Bergamo side is to regain confidence, it should be in a match like this – against an opponent in a deep crisis.

Match prediction for Atalanta – Cremonese: victory for the home team with a (-1.5) handicap

Roma – Cagliari

Cagliari has been feeling quite confident lately. The team has secured three consecutive victories and has managed to create a comfortable cushion from the relegation zone. In the last round, the "Islanders" left Verona with no chance, thrashing their opponents 4:0. Roma, on the other hand, is experiencing a rough patch: the Romans have not secured a victory in three consecutive matches, including a draw with Panathinaikos (1:1) in the Europa League. Meanwhile, the "Wolves" are increasingly showing issues with finishing – the team creates plenty of chances, but lacks precision in the final stages. The visitors are quite capable of causing serious problems for the hosts.

Match prediction for Roma – Cagliari: victory for the visitors with a handicap (+1.5)
