Zach Edey’s physical measurements: height, wingspan, hand size, and foot size of the Memphis Grizzlies standout.

Few players entering the NBA have attracted as much attention for their sheer size as Zach Edey. After dominating college basketball at Purdue, the 7-foot-4 center joined the Memphis Grizzlies, bringing with him one of the most remarkable physical profiles in the league. His height, wingspan, and overall build make him an imposing figure who can alter games simply through his presence on the floor.

Height: Standing Tall at 7 Foot 4

Zach Edey’s official height is 7 feet 4 inches (2.24 metres), placing him among the tallest active players in the NBA. Only a few, such as Victor Wembanyama and Boban Marjanović, stand in the same range. His height gave him a massive edge at Purdue, where he routinely towered over opponents and established a deep position in the paint.

What’s especially impressive is his coordination. Players his size often struggle with balance and mobility, but Edey moves well for his frame. He’s shown he can defend pick-and-rolls, seal defenders inside, and use his length to change shots even without jumping. His height alone forces teams to rethink how they attack the basket.

Wingspan: An Incredible 7-foot-10 Reach

Edey’s wingspan measures 7 feet 10 inches (2.39 metres), giving him one of the longest reaches in basketball. This allows him to dominate the glass and protect the rim with ease. At Purdue, his combination of height and reach made him one of the nation’s leaders in rebounds and blocks, and that skill set translates naturally to the NBA.

The Grizzlies now have a player capable of contesting nearly every shot in his vicinity. His length also gives him a wide catching radius for lobs and passes in traffic, a valuable asset in Memphis’s fast-paced offence.

Hand Size: Control and Power

Edey’s hands reportedly measure around 11 inches from thumb to pinky when spread-among the largest in NBA history. This immense hand size gives him superior grip and control of the basketball, letting him palm it effortlessly or secure it against contact.

Such grip strength enhances his scoring ability around the rim, as he can finish through defenders and hold the ball high above smaller opponents. It also helps with rebounding, as he rarely loses control when securing the ball in traffic.

Foot Size: The Foundation of a Giant

To support his massive frame, Edey wears approximately a size 20 shoe. His large feet provide the balance and stability needed for his 300-pound body, allowing him to maintain coordination and fluid movement.

Despite his size, Edey’s footwork is polished. He runs the floor well, keeps a strong base when posting up, and avoids the heavy-footed movements typical of many players his height. For a 7’4” centre, that combination of size and agility is rare—and it’s a big part of why Memphis sees him as a long-term piece in their frontcourt rotation.
