Three signings to help Manchester United secure Champions League football next season

Manchester United will not participate in Europe next season, let alone in the UEFA Champions League, having finished in 15th place in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. Man United had one route back to the UCL through the Europa League, but they fell short following a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the final.

Their absence from the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League didn’t come as a shock to anyone, as the Red Devils have missed out on participating in the competition more than they have qualified for it since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is in charge of the club’s transfer activities, has taken it upon himself to ensure United return to the Champions League as soon as possible and is ready to engage in as many transfer activities in the summer as he can in a bid to revamp the Man United depleted squad.

The 72-year-old has confessed earlier that taking Manchester United back to their glory days isn’t a quick fix and has pleaded with the fans to be patient with him as he and his team gradually take the club back to the top through a series of transfer windows.

He may have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Still, the Old Trafford club that finished in 15th place last season needs more than one signing if they fancy qualifying for Europe next season, which explains why some quality players continue to be linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

With Bruno Fernandes confirming that he’s snubbing a move to Al-Hilal to remain at Manchester United, we believe the Red Devils can compete for a top-four finish next season if they sign these three players this summer.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, but the Brazilian cannot do the job alone, so we expect these three players to move to Old Trafford before the transfer window shuts down.

Bryan Mbuemo – Right-Winger

Manchester United continue to be linked with a summer move for Bryan Mbuemo. Man United’s major cause of their poor campaign last season was their blunt attack. Ruben Amorim is doing everything possible to rebuild his attack, and bringing the Cameroonian, who scored 20 goals and provided 7 assists in 38 games for Brentford, will obviously improve the United attack. The Brentford forward doesn’t shy away from his defensive duty, is quick, relentless, and creative, and has eyes on goal – everything the Portuguese tactician wants.

Viktor Gyokores - Striker

Man United’s striker Rasmus Hojlund underperformed again, scoring only four goals in 34 Premier League matches last season. His poor form has again put the Red Devils on the market in search of a quality striker. Viktor Gyokores is one of the names mentioned among United’s transfer chiefs, and his signing will be massive, given his qualities in the final third and United’s struggles in the opposition box.

Gyokores scored 39 goals and provided 7 assists in 33 games for Sporting last season, and that wasn’t the first time recently he has achieved such crazy numbers. He is lethal in front of the goal, quick, and familiar with Ruben Amorim’s tactics, having played for him during their time at Sporting. Having the Sweden international in the mix at Old Trafford, Manchester United are guaranteed at least 20+ league goals from a single player.

Goncalo Inacio – Centre-back

This move may raise some eyebrows, but we believe it is rather important to bring in some fresh legs at the back. Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are leaving the club, and with Lisandro Martinez, De Ligt, and Harry Maguire not reliable enough to play over 20 Premier League matches a season, it is rather wise to bring in an additional defender.

 Man United lost the Europa League because the likes of Martinez and De Ligt were out injured, and the fact that they played with Luke Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui at the club a couple of times suggests a new centre half is needed. Inácio has blended well alongside Ruben Dias in the Portuguese national team, and the 23-year-old is also a regular starter at Sporting CP. Goncalo Inacio also worked with Ruben Amorim in Portugal, so having him in the mix is an upgrade.
