Ruben Amorim deems these five players as ‘undroppables’ at Manchester United
Ruben Amorim may have only been at Manchester United for one month, but his previous starting lineups and results suggest he already has some players he can rely on. We can guess at least five players who have adapted well to the Portuguese boss’ philosophy.
Manchester United fans widely accept that the former Sporting CP manager will need time to stabilize the team and turn things around at Old Trafford, which means United will lose some winnable games and avoid defeats in unwinnable matches, as we saw against Manchester City at the Etihad and last weekend's 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth.
Although the results have been unpredictable, we have observed a significant improvement and consistency in their style of play. Manchester United are beginning to be brave on the ball, thanks to the five players we described as ‘undroppables’ under Ruben Amorim.
While some Man United fans may question the team's consistency, individual errors contributed to some of the poor results the Red Devils achieved under Amorim. Against Spurs, Bayindir and Lisandro Martinez were poor, while against Bournemouth, United conceded the first goal from what has been a hell of a task to control (set pieces). The Cherries scored three goals from 1.63 xG, while United had 2.28 xG but couldn’t beat Kepa. Again, United lost that encounter by moments, and if they continue to improve under the Portuguese boss, the Red Devils may become as consistent as Sporting Lisbon were under his charge.

Five Undroppables Under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United
Matthijs de Ligt
Manchester United defend well whenever he starts at the back. He is good in the air, fast, dominant, and slow in making rash tackles. He played a huge role in Man United’s shock 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City some weeks ago.
The Red Devils suffered in his absence. Ruben Amorim likes his positioning at the back and his combativeness during aerial duels. When he's fit, the Portuguese manager doesn't hesitate to put him under pressure. Sadly, he missed United’s last two matches, and the Reds conceded seven goals and lost both games. His absence has been felt.
Amad Diallo
The Ivorian is always a threat to the opposition. Whenever he has the ball in the final third, Manchester United fans feel that he may turn it into a goalscoring chance. Needless to remind you, readers, that he single-handedly destroyed Man City. He won a penalty for the equalizer and scored the winning goal with his angelic touch.
It is also important to add that Ruben Amorim finds it relatively easy to communicate with the Ivory Coast international from the touchline. What the Portuguese boss needs the most is players who listen to him, and the former Atalanta lad does that. Amad connects the dots between the midfield and the attack. At first, he started as a right-wing-back under the Portuguese but after he showed from the defense line that he could cause more havoc upfront, Amorim gave him a chance to prove a point from the right wing midfield, and he did just that. United struggle to create chances without him in the starting lineup, which suggests he’s one of those players United cannot afford not to have in the starting lineup.
Manuel Ugarte
Some fans would wonder why the former PSG midfielder struggled to get playing time under Erik ten Hag. He has been one of Amorim’s most consistent players at United. He’s brave on the ball and doesn’t make many errors with or without the ball.
He was unstoppable against Man City. His short, accurate passes helped Manchester United maintain possession against City, and his style of play suits Amorim’s philosophy. The Portuguese boss wants his side to dominate the game. To do this, accurate short passes are needed, and that’s where Ugarte cements himself nicely.
Bruno Fernandes
Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Portuguese star has been unstoppable due to his contributions both with and without the ball. He consistently works tirelessly and diligently.
He connects the midfield with the attack nicely. The Portuguese midfielder understands what his managers need from him; if it means playing out of position, the former Sporting lad wouldn’t think twice. While he may concede more possession than Ugarte, he remains an indispensable asset for any team. When he doesn’t play, United struggle to create many clear-cut chances, and of course, he listens to his bosses, which is important.
Noussair Mazraoui
Although Erik ten Hag signed him from Bayern Munich, he has become an important player for Ruben Amorim.
He plays with passion, and his versatility has helped him become one of the undroppables under the Portuguese boss. The former Bayern Munich defender can play on both fullbacks, and his consistent top performance suggests that he’ll likely be United’s right-back when Luke Shaw finally returns to full fitness.
