Manchester United have been informed that they will kick off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a mouth-watering Old Trafford showdown against archrivals Arsenal in August.

Manchester United have one of the toughest starts to the upcoming season, as they are poised to play against Arsenal, Chelsea, and their city rivals, Manchester City. Some United fans are already suggesting that the club is likely to continue from where they left off last season, mainly due to how the club’s hierarchy has performed in the summer transfer market so far. However, some agreed the fixtures are rather too tough.

While some United fans are wary about facing some of the top guns at the early stage, it is rather important to remind fans about some of the teams the Red Devils have struggled to get around in recent seasons.

Ruben Amorim avoided a defeat against some of the top guns, but there are some of the so-called average teams that United have found it hard to get around, and this season should provide the chance for them to straighten things out.

The Red Devils may have avoided a defeat in their last four matches against Manchester City and had mixed results against Liverpool and Chelsea, but below are the five teams. United MUST find a way to get around this term.

AFC Bournemouth: Manchester United are winless against the Cherries in their last four Premier League meetings, losing two and drawing two. The back-to-back 3-0 home defeats to Bournemouth should be enough motivation to ensure they get a win over this side next season.

Brighton: The Seagulls are at the top of the list of teams Manchester United MUST find a way to beat next season, having lost six of their last seven league games against Brighton. The defeats are no longer considered flukes, as rivals' fans now see it as a pattern where Man United will lose a game against the Seagulls every year.

Tottenham: Spurs really got on United’s nerves last season, having won their four encounters with the Red Devils, including the excruciating 1-0 victory over the Red Devils in the Europa League final. The good thing is that Tottenham’s ex-manager, Ange Postecoglou, has been sacked, but it’s not so good because their new boss, Thomas Frank, has a good record against United as Brentford boss.

Arsenal: So many Manchester United fans cannot recall when their club last won against Arsenal in the Premier League. It was during Erik ten Hag’s first season. The Red Devils lost their last four league games against the Gunners, and their last away win over the Londoners was in 2017. United kick the season off with a home game against Mikel Arteta’s side, so there’s a chance to put a stop to that.

Newcastle United: Manchester United won just once in their last seven Premier League games against the Magpies. Eddie Howe’s side is becoming a force in the league, and with United planning to make the big four for next season, getting wins over a team like this should be in their plans.
