Tanzania’s Under-19 national cricket team represents the next generation of the country’s men’s international setup. The side competes in ICC youth tournaments and has become much more visible across African qualification events.
A major step came in 2024, when Tanzania won the ICC U19 Men’s Africa Division 2 Qualifier. The tournament took place in Dar es Salaam, where the hosts finished the campaign with the trophy. That result moved Tanzania into the next stage of qualification for the 2026 U19 World Cup.
The team then went one step further during the 2025 Africa Qualifier in Nigeria. Tanzania completed the event unbeaten and secured the only regional place at the global tournament. Captain Laksh Bakrania played a major role with both bat and ball across the campaign. The team had started its journey from Division 2, which made the final qualification even more notable.
Tanzania entered the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup for the first time in 2026. The tournament took place in Zimbabwe and Namibia, with Tanzania placed in a group alongside South Africa, Afghanistan, and West Indies. Before the main event, the side also produced a dramatic warm-up win against Ireland after recovering from 21 for six.
