The German national baseball team is the official team that represents Germany in men’s international baseball competitions. It is managed by the German Baseball and Softball Federation (DBV), which also oversees baseball development and national leagues in the country. The team competes mostly in European championships and international qualifier events.
Baseball has a long history in Germany, dating back to the 1930s with early exhibitions and organising growing after World War II. The DBV was officially formed in 1950, and Germany became one of the founding members of the European baseball community. Over the decades, national teams have competed at the European Championship and the now-replaced Baseball World Cup.
In European competitions, Germany’s best finish historically was second place in the mid‑1950s. In modern times, the team continues to compete against other nations in Europe and strives to improve its ranking. Players often come from the domestic Deutsche Baseball Liga (DBL) or have experience in minor leagues abroad. Germany has also included players with professional experience from the United States in qualifiers like the World Baseball Classic.
