Predictions for the 12th round of the Premier League, November 22-24

09 Feb, 13:35

Burnley vs Chelsea

The EPL resumes from the international break with a match in Lancashire, where Burnley will host Chelsea. Over the past 11 rounds, the visitors have conceded half as many goals and earned twice as many points, so there's no question about the favorite. Enzo Maresca's team is in excellent form and is even directly involved in the title race. Considering only English tournaments, they have an active streak of four consecutive away victories, which we believe should not be interrupted on a trip to the underdog. This is also suggested by the head-to-head statistics, as the "Blues" last dropped points at "Turf Moor" in 2017, still under Antonio Conte.

Match Prediction for Burnley vs Chelsea: Chelsea to win

Bournemouth vs West Ham

This match seems much more intriguing than the previous one. There is a significant gap between Bournemouth and West Ham in the table, but the "Hammers" went into the international break in much better form, winning two consecutive matches for the first time this season. The "Cherries," on the other hand, were defeated by their table neighbors – Man City (1:3) and Aston Villa (0:4). Interestingly, both teams might take the field without their attacking leaders – Antoine Semenyo got injured on international duty, and Lucas Paquetá is suspended due to yellow card accumulation. This leads to thoughts that the match might not be rich in goals. In head-to-head battles, this is usually the case – 5 out of the last 6 meetings followed a low-scoring scenario.

Match Prediction for Bournemouth vs West Ham: total under 3.5 goals

Brighton vs Brentford

The intrigue remains high as we move to Brighton, where direct competitors will face off. The "Seagulls" and the "Bees" have currently accumulated the same number of points (16) and even scored the same number of goals (17). However, the favorite here is obvious, as Fabian Hurzeler's team has not known defeat at their home "Amex" since the end of last season, specifically since the April match against Aston Villa (0:3). Meanwhile, Brentford has lost most of their away games in the current EPL campaign, even though they haven't faced any giants. In all their unsuccessful matches, Keith Andrews' team conceded at least twice.

Match Prediction for Brighton vs Brentford: Brighton's individual total over 1.5 goals

Fulham vs Sunderland

Five defeats in the last six rounds – a representation of the crisis Fulham has fallen into. The "Cottagers" are just one point away from the bottom of the table, and their only victory in the aforementioned stretch was against the struggling Wolverhampton (3:0). Sunderland, on the other hand, is sensationally in the top-4, proving that it's no fluke. If you forgot, let us remind you that in the last round, the "Black Cats" ended Arsenal's winning streak (2:2). There are no fresh losses in Regis Le Bris's squad. No, we do not intend to agree with Fulham's status as the favorite for the match solely because of their home advantage. The visitors have every chance to earn points at Craven Cottage.

Match Prediction Fulham vs Sunderland: Sunderland will not lose

Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest

How are the champions doing? Not very well. A thrashing from Man City (0-3) dropped Arne Slot's team to 8th place. Meanwhile, Nottingham under Sean Dyche has started to recover, securing a long-awaited victory in the last round by defeating Leeds (3-1). But how can the "Foresters" snatch points at Anfield? Only a strict defensive game with a low block can help. The hosts will dominate possession and continuously try to break through the opponent's defensive lines, leading to a high number of corners from their side. Nottingham, in our opinion, will earn no more than a couple, as their average away is very modest – 3.2 corners per game.

Match Prediction Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest: Liverpool to win on corners with a handicap (-3.5)

Wolverhampton vs Crystal Palace

The "Wolves" are the only Premier League team to have changed their manager during this international break. The new head coach is Rob Edwards, who was one of the leaders in the Championship with Middlesbrough. Starting at Molineux promises to be tough for the Welshman, as Crystal Palace, who have emerged from their October crisis, are visiting. However, it is worth noting that Wolverhampton consistently puts up a fight at home, having only lost to Man City without scoring (0-4). Therefore, we expect both teams to score – a bet that has come through in the last four consecutive head-to-head meetings between the "Wolves" and the "Glaziers".

Match Prediction Wolverhampton vs Crystal Palace: both teams to score (yes)

Newcastle vs Manchester City

One of the main matches of the round will take place at St. James' Park, where Newcastle will try to halt Man City's winning streak. The "Magpies" have suffered defeats in two consecutive rounds and are just a couple of points away from the relegation zone, while the "Citizens" are seriously in the title race. However, surprises after the international break are not ruled out, especially considering that the "Black and Whites" rarely give up home matches to the "Sky Blues" without a fight. This is evidenced by the trend that a bet on both teams to score has come through in 6 of the last 7 head-to-head Premier League encounters at Newcastle's ground.

Match Prediction Newcastle vs Manchester City: both teams to score (yes)

Leeds vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa went into the break in high spirits, having thrashed Bournemouth 4-0. Meanwhile, Leeds is mired in defeats, and rumors of Daniel Farke's dismissal are growing louder. We believe that The odds favoring the visitors are more than fair and even slightly inflated. Considering the fact that the "Lions" have not lost to the "Peacocks" for five consecutive matches, we suggest betting on Unai Emery's team to win with a draw no bet option.

Match Prediction for Leeds vs Aston Villa: Aston Villa to win with a (0) handicap

Arsenal vs Tottenham

The North London derby will be the main attraction in the 12th round! Arsenal suffered a disappointing draw against Sunderland (2:2), yet they continue to lead the table alone, while for Tottenham, dropping points is a common occurrence. The "Spurs" are still in the top 5, but for how long? The "Gunners" have won 5 of the last 6 head-to-head encounters, and it is hard to imagine that Thomas Frank's team, in its current state, can break this unfortunate trend. Yes, the hosts have personnel issues, including the recent loss of Gabriel, but the visitors have no fewer, and in terms of quality of play and confidence, the opponents are simply on different levels.

Match Prediction for Arsenal vs Tottenham: Arsenal to win

Manchester United vs Everton

The round will close with an intriguing match at Old Trafford. Undefeated in November, Everton will visit Manchester United, who have not lost since the beginning of October. This is the best period for the "Red Devils" under Ruben Amorim. Defensive issues still remain, but upfront, MU is strong and consistently scores more than one goal per game. The "Toffees" have lost most of their away matches this season, conceding two goals even against the hopeless Wolverhampton (0:2), so our sympathies lie with the hosts here. Looking at the head-to-head statistics, it's easy to see that Everton is a convenient opponent for Manchester.

Match Prediction for Manchester United vs Everton: Manchester United's individual total over 1.5 goals
