Premier League 2024/25 predictions: Gameweek 22: 18/01 - 20/01

09 Feb, 13:35

Liverpool dropped more points last time out when they settled for a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest away from home. They had dropped two points at Anfield after their 2-2 draw with Manchester United, but they have yet another tricky fixture in the upcoming days against Brentford away.

Chelsea remain winless in their last five Premier League matches, following their 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Manchester City’s two-match winning run in the league took a turn following their 2-2 draw at Brentford.

Arsenal will look to maintain their fine form after their 2-1 win over Tottenham at home, while Newcastle United extended their winning run to nine wins after a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves. How will these teams react in the next round?

This week’s Premier League gameweek 22 predictions were based on current form, data and expert knowledge. You are advised not to take them personally.

Premier League 2024/2025 Gameweek 22 Predictions and Betting Tips: 18/01/2025 - 20/01/2025

Newcastle United and Bournemouth to exchange goals: Newcastle United vs Bournemouth

  • Date: 18/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 13:30
  • Newcastle United may be in better form, but they are unlikely to keep a clean sheet against the Cherries.

Bournemouth scored twice against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea, and three times against Manchester United. What are the chances they don’t score at least one goal against Newcastle United? Very slim.

Newcastle United vs Bournemouth prediction 18/01/2025: Both teams to score - yes

West Ham and Crystal Palace to exchange goals: West Ham vs Crystal Palace

  • Date: 18/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • West Ham struggle to keep clean sheets, and because Crystal Palace find it relatively easy to get on the scoreboard, we think both teams will score.

West Ham United conceded twice in their 3-2 win over Fulham and will always find it easy to score at least a goal in front of their fans. However, they have found it difficult to shut teams out, and with Crystal Palace, who scored twice at Leicester and has been scoring goals lately, we think both teams will give their fans goals to cheer.

West Ham vs Crystal Palace prediction 18/01/2025: Both teams to score - yes

Brentford and Liverpool to delight fans with goals: Brentford vs Leicester City

  • Date: 18/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • Matches at the Gtech stadium usually end with three or more goals, and we think the upcoming encounter will follow suit.

Brentford have one of the best home forms in the Premier League this term, and even Manchester City couldn’t win against them despite being 2-0 up around 80 minutes. Many goals are usually scored at Brentford’s stadium, and the fact that Liverpool is also a good goalscoring team suggests this encounter will likely end with three or more goals.

Brentford vs Liverpool prediction 18/01/2025: Over 2.5 goals

Fulham to win either half, thanks to the Foxes’ poor defense: Leicester City vs Fulham

  • Date: 18/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:00
  • Leicester City have struggled to improve their defense, which suggests Fulham may outscore them in one half at least.

Leicester City have one of the worst defenses in the Premier League, if not the worst, and they further proved that when they lost 2-0 at home last time out against Crystal Palace. Fulham are a better side than the Eagles, and we think the Cottagers have the quality to outscore the Foxes in at least one half.

Leicester City vs Fulham prediction 18/01/2025: Away team to win either half - yes

Arsenal to maintain their winning momentum: Arsenal vs Aston Villa

  • Date: 18/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:30
  • Aston Villa may have maintained consistency in recent weeks, but Arsenal are a different side at the Emirates.

Arsenal recently came from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 at the Emirates last time out, and will look to maintain their momentum. Although Villa beat Everton 1-0 in midweek, we doubt they can stage back-to-back wins at the Emirates, as we believe the Gunners are in their best mode, always in front of their fans.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa prediction 18/01/2025: Home team to win

Nottingham Forest to bounce back to winning ways: Nottingham Forest vs Southampton

  • Date: 19/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:00
  • Southampton are bound to return to the Championship this year; their poor form suggests they are increasingly likely to return home without a point.

Nottingham Forest have raised many eyebrows with their scintillating form this term, as they currently occupy 3rd place after 21 matches. They held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw, having won eight league matches in a row before that. The Saints are at the bottom of the table, and this says a lot about this encounter.

Nottingham Forest vs Southampton prediction 19/01/2025: Home team to win

Everton and Tottenham to exchange goals: Everton vs Tottenham

  • Date: 19/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:00
  • Everton may have struggled this season, but they can find the back of the net against Tottenham, whose defense remains one of the worst in the Prem.

Tottenham have one of the weakest defenses in the Premier League, and with their first-choice centre-backs out injured, it looks likely that any team at all can find the back of their net. Everton are under a new manager, and the players will only want to impress. They came close in some cases to score against Aston Villa, and we think they can achieve that against Spurs, who find it relatively easy to score against any opponent as well.

Everton vs Tottenham prediction 19/01/2025: Both teams to score - yes

Manchester United to get all three points: Manchester United vs Brighton

  • Date: 19/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:00
  • Manchester United may have disappointed their fans in their most recent encounters with Brighton, but they have a good record against the Seagulls in recent years.

Brighton managed only five wins in their last 13 Premier League matches against Manchester United, stretching back to 2019. The fact that there was not a single draw recorded during this time shows everyone United’s dominance over Brighton in these meetings. With how the Red Devils have played recently, and with the disappointment in the reverse fixture, we expect the Reds to take the win at ease.

Manchester United vs Brighton prediction 19/01/2025: Home team to win

Manchester City to bounce back to winning ways: Ipswich Town vs Manchester City

  • Date: 19/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:30
  • Ipswich Town may have registered fine results against Tottenham, Chelsea and Man United, but we doubt they can repeat the same against Man City.

Manchester City were gradually building their momentum, but their progress was delayed by Brentford following a disappointing 2-2 draw at the Gtech Stadium. Ipswich Town are fighting against relegation, but Man City are also struggling to make a top-four finish. Both teams have a target to protect in the upcoming fixture, but the Citizens are the favourites to win the game, and we agree with the bookies, thanks to the number of quality players at Pep Guardiola’s disposal.

Ipswich Town vs Manchester City prediction 19/01/2025: Away team to win

Chelsea and Wolves to exchange goals: Chelsea vs Wolves

  • Date: 20/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Both teams are in dire form, and we expect them to play like they mean it in the Monday clash.

Monday matches are fond of producing many goals, and with both teams struggling at the back, we think at least three goals can be scored in the game at Stamford Bridge. The last time both teams met, Chelsea won 5-2 away from home. We are not certain that seven goals will be scored in the return leg, but there’s a chance both teams can exchange goals, as their backlines aren’t in their best shapes.

Chelsea vs Wolves prediction 20/01/2025: Both teams to score - yes
