Southampton are at the bottom of the standings with ten defeats in 13 league matches. They make life difficult for teams playing in their stadium, as they were close to getting a point off Liverpool (2-3). Chelsea play excellent football, but regardless of that, the Saints have the quality to force the Blues to settle for a draw, so we are siding with Enzo Maresca's side to win in at least one half.

• Nottingham Forest may be in the top six with three wins in their last five league games, but they are more likely to succumb to a defeat at the Etihad. 

Manchester City lost their last four league matches, including Sunday’s 2-0 away loss to Liverpool, but they are determined to bring their rancid form to a halt. Nottingham Forest surprisingly play well, but it is somewhat of a stretch to expect them to get something positive from the reigning champions.

Newcastle United and Liverpool to exchange goals: Newcastle United vs Liverpool

• Liverpool struggle to keep clean sheets on the road, while Newcastle rarely blank at home.

The Reds may have kept a clean sheet against Real Madrid and Manchester City, but they conceded twice against Southampton away. They conceded again and again in their last two away games against Brighton and Arsenal. Newcastle’s attack can be formidable at St. James’ Park, and we expect the likes of Gordons and Isak to make their presence felt.

Arsenal are beginning to smash teams again following the return of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, but Manchester United are also beginning to score goals freely. The Red Devils scored seven goals in their last two matches, while the Gunners scored ten goals in their last two games. Given that both teams have exchanged goals in five of their last six meetings and that United players are still eager to impress their new manager, it is reasonable to expect this encounter to follow suit.

Aston Villa, having gone seven matches without a win in all competitions, are not in their best form. Brentford are scoring goals but struggling to keep clean sheets. Villa will want to dominate at home, but the Bees’ current form (26 goals scored in 13 games) suggests both teams are likely to exchange goals.

The Cottagers rarely lose at the Craven Cottage, and we expect them to avoid a defeat against the Seagulls, who are not entirely stronger than the hosts.
