Liga Portugal Predictions: Round 30: 18/04-19/04

09 Feb, 13:35

Sporting and Benfica are engaging in a game of chess, with Sporting returning to the top of the Liga Portugal table following their victory and Benfica's unexpected draw at home. Both teams are locked at 69 points, but Sporting have the advantage since they beat Benfica earlier this season.

Sporting Braga and FC Porto are battling for third place as Braga maintained their one-point advantage after both teams won their respective matches. These four teams will most probably represent Portugal in next season’s European competitions.

At the bottom of the table, the situation is getting tense as only Farense among the bottom six teams managed to win. With Estrela and Gil Vicente out of the relegation zone for the time being, five teams are fighting tooth and nail to stay up.

Liga Portugal Predictions: Round 30: 18/04-19/04

Farense are the favorites in this clash: Farense vs Boavista

  • Date: 18/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 16:30 CET
  • Farense have won four of the last five H2H meetings, with the latest game ending in a 1-1 draw in the opposite fixture this season.

Farense returned from Amadora with a 1-0 away win over Estrela in the previous round. However, they need to step up at home, as they have lost ten of their 14 games. Farense are undefeated in two games. Boavista suffered another blow as they lost 1-0 at home to Nacional in round 29. That was Boavista's fourth defeat in five games, and they remain six points below safety with 18 points.

Farense vs Boavista Prediction: Farense to Win

A low-scoring clash is looming: Rio Ave vs Santa Clara

  • Date: 18/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 16:30 CET
  • Four of the last five meetings between these teams ended with under 2.5 goals.

Since the start of the season, 48% of Rio Ave’s games have ended with under 2.5 goals. The visitors’ last eight games saw two or fewer goals. Santa Clara have the league’s lowest total goal average with 1.93 goals per game in 29 matches. With both teams scoring an average of around one goal per game, we predict under 2.5 goals.

Rio Ave vs Santa Clara Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals

This matchup should feature at least two goals: FC Porto vs Famalicao

  • Date: 18/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 19:00 CET
  • The last 13 meetings between these teams ended with two or more goals.

FC Porto games usually see 2.76 goals per game, and 90% of them end with two or more goals. 76% of Famalicão’s games have also produced over two goals in the Liga Portugal this season. Moreover, their last four games saw three or more strikes. At least two goals must be scored, considering their previous H2H meetings.

FC Porto vs Famalicao Prediction: Over 2 Goals

Sporting to hold on to the top of the table: Sporting vs Moreirense

  • Date: 18/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 21:30 CET
  • Sporting have won four of the last five H2H meetings, with Moreirense winning the opposite fixture this season.

Sporting extended their unbeaten run in the league to 16 games after beating Santa Clara 1-0 on the road. The hosts have won five of their last six games and 11 of their 14 home games. Moreirense suffered a surprise 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Rio Ave. The visitors lost five of their seven away games against higher-ranked teams. We have faith in Sporting's abilities and know they will fight to maintain their position at the top.

Sporting vs Moreirense Prediction: Sporting to Win and Over 1.5 Goals

Two teams struggling in attack: AVS vs Casa Pia

  • The only meeting between these two teams ended with a 1-1 draw earlier this season.

Throughout the season, AVS have scored 0.76 goals per game, and 62% of their games end with under 2.5 goals. Casa Pia’s scoring record is not remarkable either, with 1.17 goals per game. They have failed to score in 36% of their away games. A game with few scoring opportunities awaits.

AVS vs Casa Pia Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals

A tight contest expected: Nacional vs Gil Vicente

  • Date: 19/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 16:30 CET
  • The last three meetings between these teams ended with a draw in at least one half.

Nacional’s eight of their last ten matches ended with a draw in at least one half, and the same trend happened in Gil Vicente’s six of their previous seven fixtures. Moreover, six of Nacional’s 14 home games and seven of Gil Vicente’s 14 away matches ended in a draw in the first half.

Nacional vs Gil Vicente Prediction: Draw in at Least One Half.

Two teams with low-scoring averages: Arouca vs Estrela

  • Date: 19/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 19:00 CET
  • The last two meetings between these teams ended with three or fewer goals.

Arouca have scored an average of 1.00 goals per game this season in the league. Estrela have the third-weakest attack with 0.76 goals scored. The stats show a 57% possibility for this game to produce under 2.5 goals. Moreover, in the last eight rounds, Estrela scored 0.50 goals per game.

Arouca vs Estrela Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals

Braga favorites to achieve an away win: Estoril vs Braga

  • Date: 19/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 19:00 CET
  • Braga have won four of the last five meetings with Estoril.

Estoril suffered their third defeat in six games after losing 3-0 away to Famalicão in the previous round. Braga are in much better form, having gone unbeaten in five games, winning four and drawing one. They beat AVS 4-1 last time out. Braga need three points to maintain their third position.

Estoril vs Braga Prediction: Braga to Win

A must win game for Benfica: Guimaraes vs Benfica

  • Date: 19/04/2025
  • Kick Off: 21:30 CET
  • Benfica have the upper hand in the last five meetings with Guimarães, winning three of them.

Guimarães are undefeated in ten games and have covered the +1 goal handicap in their last 23 games in Liga Portugal. They lost just once by more than a one-goal margin when facing the top four teams. Benfica failed against the +1 goal handicap in three of their five games against the top five teams.

Guimaraes vs Benfica Prediction: Guimaraes +1 Goal Handicap
