09 Feb, 13:35

A couple of surprising results were the headlines from round 19, and they were in favor of Sporting, who extended their lead at the top of the Liga Portugal standings to six points. Benfica lost, and FC Porto drew, the main challengers for Sporting for the Portuguese title.

Sporting Braga improved their fourth position and are now five points clear of fifth-placed Santa Clara. Casa Pia, who are on an undefeated streak, are just two points behind Santa Clara. At the bottom of the table, Boavista maintained their poor results and are now five points below safety.

This week’s Liga Portugal gameweek 20 predictions were made based on current form, expert knowledge, and data.

Famalicão are the favorites to win as they travel to Boavista: Boavista vs Famalicão

  • Bottom of the table, Boavista, with 12 points, will take on Famalicao, who are 12th with 21 points. Famalicão won three and drew two of the last five H2H meetings.

With 15 games still to play, Boavista have a chance to escape relegation. However, with their recent form, it is hard to see them pulling it off. In their last game, Boavista suffered their fourth consecutive defeat by losing away to Braga 3-0. The hosts are winless in nine games and have not won at home this season. Famalicão are not in much better form, as they are also winless in nine rounds. With the goalless draw against Estrela in round 19, Famalicão recorded their fifth draw in nine games.

Boavista vs Famalicao Prediction: Famalicao to Win or Draw

Nacional will host Arouca in a game with low-scoring prospects: Nacional vs Arouca

The average number of goals scored in Nacional’s games is 2.21 goals per game. Arouca remained undefeated for the fourth consecutive game after beating Moreirense 1-0 in the previous round. FC Porto continued their poor results and are still looking for a win after three games.
