La Liga predictions: Round 30, 04/04-07/04

09 Feb, 13:35

Barcelona will look to continue their fine form when they host in-form Real Betis despite playing three matches in seven days. The Catalans currently sit at the top of the standings with 63 points, three points clear of Real Madrid in 2nd place, but will the short break between matches finally take its toll on Hansi Flick’s side when they take on Real Betis this weekend? We’ll find out.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will welcome Valencia in Madrid, who are fighting against relegation, but that encounter looks tricky as Los Ches are unbeaten in their last four league matches. Atletico Madrid will look to end their winless run of three games when they face Sevilla in Seville and avoid dropping to fourth place behind Athletic Bilbao.

Although the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid will be involved in next week’s Champions League games, they are expected to field their complete teams this weekend.

La Liga gameweek 30 predictions: 04/04/2025 - 07/04/2025

Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol to produce many corners

  • Date: 04/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:00 CET
  • Corners are usually in excess when both teams come up against each other, and there’s no way the upcoming game will end differently.

Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol have crossed paths many times, but their last five league meetings suggest both teams are fond of creating chances from corners. On average, 10.5 corners were played per game in their last five meetings, but we expect at least nine corners from the game this weekend due to how both teams approach their attacks.

Rayo Vallecano vs Espanyol prediction: Total corners - over 8.5

Alaves to make some rash challenges: Girona vs Alaves

  • Date: 05/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 13:00 CET
  • Matches between both teams are usually tense, so we can expect many late tackles from both teams but more from Alaves.

Alaves do not hold back when they come up against Girona, and the hosts poor form is just another reason for the Blue and White outfit to press hard and go against the odds to seal a win. We looked at their last five league meetings and discovered that Alaves averaged 13.2 fouls per game. There’s a decent chance to expect similar numbers from the upcoming game.

Girona vs Alaves prediction: Away total fouls - over 12.5

Red card to be shown: Real Madrid vs Valencia

  • Date: 05/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:15 CET
  • Matches between Real Madrid and Valencia are usually fierce, and their current aims for the season suggest the upcoming tend to finish in a similar situation.

Real Madrid and Valencia have a very long list of La Liga meetings over the last few decades, but their previous five meetings dropped our jaws down. Four of those league encounters finished with at least one red card, and with Valencia fighting against relegation and Real Madrid pushing to close in on Barcelona at the top of the game, this is a must-not-lose game for either team. Given the intensity and fierceness of the markings in a situation like this, there's a chance a player could receive the order.

Real Madrid vs Valencia prediction: Red card - yes

Mallorca and Celta Vigo will struggle in the final third

  • Date: 05/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:30 CET
  • Goals are usually scarce in matches involving both teams, and there’s every chance this weekend’s encounter will follow suit.

As seen in their last five matches, Mallorca and Celta Vigo typically forget their shooting shoes when they cross paths. All La Liga meetings ended with under 2.5 goals, and with Mallorca being a decent defensive side, the chances of this meeting ending with over 2.5 goals are slim.

Mallorca vs Celta Vigo prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Barcelona and Real Betis will entertain fans with goals

  • Date: 05/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:00 CET
  • Fans are usually entertained with goals when these two teams come up against each other, and with both clubs’ current form, we cannot rule out the same from happening in this weekend’s encounter.

Goals are usually scored when Real Betis and Barcelona come up against each other. The reverse fixture ended in a 2-2 draw in Seville, and when they crossed paths in Copa del Rey, Barca won 5-1. Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal are formidable players. They score or assist nonstop, and with Betis expected to be without their talisman, Isco, due to suspension, we expect most of the goals to come from the hosts.

Barcelona vs Real Betis prediction: Over 3.5 goals

Real Sociedad to snatch a narrow win: Las Palmas vs Real Sociedad

  • Date: 06/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 13:00 CET
  • Goals are usually few when these teams meet in La Liga, and we don’t expect the upcoming game to end differently.

Las Palmas last won a La Liga game against Real Sociedad in 2016, and since then, it has been chaos for them coming up against the Blue and White outfit. Real Sociedad’s last two away wins over Las Palmas ended in 1-0 each, and having played 120 minutes against Real Madrid in midweek, we doubt they can play high-intensity football against the Yellow and Blue outfit this weekend; as a result, this encounter will be a low-scoring one for the visitors.

Las Palmas vs Real Sociedad prediction: Correct score 0-1

Sevilla’s Nyland will be busy in goal: Seville vs Atletico Madrid

  • Date: 06/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:15 CET
  • Sevilla’s goalie gets busy when they come up against Atletico Madrid, and Nyland is expected to be called into action several times this weekend.

With Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez shooting on all cylinders, we expect Nyland to be busy on Sunday afternoon. Both teams have met on many occasions in this competition, but their last five meetings in Seville show that goalkeepers made an average of 3.4 saves per game. We expect the upcoming game to follow suit.

Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid prediction: Home total saves - over 3.5

The referee will be called into action on a few occasions: Real Valladolid vs Getafe

  • Date: 06/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:30 CET
  • Both teams are fond of getting into the referee’s book, and we might experience yet another intense football match with many rash tackles this weekend.

Real Valladolid and Getafe meetings are usually rough and end with many warnings. Both teams hate conceding many goals, and going forward, they are not among the best. They prefer exchanging blows in the midfield, which results in many fouls. We took a long look at their previous five La Liga meetings and found out the number of bookings is high. On average, 5.4 yellow cards were shown per game, so we can bank on the ref to warn both teams at least four times.

Real Valladolid vs Getafe prediction: Total yellow cards - over 3.5

Unai Simon to have a long night: Villarreal vs Athletic Bilbao

  • Date: 06/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:00 CET
  • Villarreal are a complex side to control at home, and Athletic Bilbao are likely going to be busy at the back.

Villarreal have one of the best attacks in the country, and they consistently show that against any team. They stood tall against Real Madrid, and when they play at home, they usually play on the front foot. Bilbao are struggling to maintain consistency, so we expect Unai Simon to be called into action several times The visitors averaged 5.40 saves per game in their last five La Liga visits to Estadi de la Ceràmica, so we expect Simon to be busy against the Yellow Submarines.

Villarreal vs Athletic Bilbao prediction: Away total saves - over 4.5

Leganes and Osasuna will exchange goals

  • Date: 07/04/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:00 CET
  • Both teams usually exchange goals in matches involving Osasuna, and we expect Leganes to find the back of the net in front of their fans.

Leganes and Osasuna haven’t met many times, and most of their last five meetings took place over five years ago. However, we took a look at Osasuna’s recent form, and they are going through a rough patch. Both teams exchanged goals in seven of their last ten La Liga matches, and with Leganes scoring goals against big opponents like Real Madrid, we don’t expect them to struggle against struggling Osasuna.

Leganes vs Osasuna prediction: Both teams to score - yes
