La Liga predictions: Gameweek 24: 14/02- 17/02

09 Feb, 13:35

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid dropped points last weekend when the Madrid Derby ended in a controversial 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernabeu. However, they have a chance to get back to winning ways when Real Madrid take on Osasuna and Atletico Madrid welcome Celta Vigo this weekend.

Barcelona closed in on the Madrid clubs last weekend following a commanding 4-1 win over Sevilla away, although the Catalans were forced to finish the game with a man down.

This week’s La Liga 2024/25 gameweek 24 predictions were based on current form, data and expert knowledge.

La Liga 2024/25 Round 24 predictions: 14/02/2025 - 17/02/2025

Girona and Getafe to struggle in the final third: Girona vs Getafe

  • Date: 17/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Matches involving Getafe rarely delight fans with goals and we expect the upcoming game to be drab.

Both teams hardly exchange goals and their recent meetings suggest this game will be cagey. Their last two league meetings ended with under 1.5 goals, but in their last seven league meetings, three ended with over 2.5 goals. While only one draw was recorded in these meetings, we expect a low-scoring game in Girona will not be a stretch.

Girona vs Getafe prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Leganes and Alaves will exchange goals: Leganes vs Alaves

  • Date: 15/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 14:00
  • Both teams somehow get on the scoreboard when they cross paths, and the upcoming game may end the same.

Leganes and Alaves scored as the reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw. They are battling relegation this season and plan to play aggressively to secure an early goal. Both teams scored in their last four La Liga matches, and when they met in La Liga 2, they exchanged goals in two matches. Both teams are expected to contribute to the scoreboard.

Leganes vs Alaves prediction: Both teams to score - yes

Real Madrid to bounce back to winning ways: Osasuna vs Real Madrid

  • Date: 15/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:15
  • Real Madrid last lost a La Liga game to Osasuna in 2011, so we expect them to get back to winning ways this weekend.

Osasuna have endured mixed reactions this season and will likely succumb to a defeat this weekend because they come up against a team, Real Madrid, that has gotten the better of them since 2011. The Whites won seven and drew three of their last ten league meetings with Osasuna, so we can count on Carlo Ancelotti’s men to win the upcoming game.

Osasuna vs Real Madrid prediction: Away team to win

Atletico Madrid to get back to winning games: Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo

  • Date: 15/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:30
  • Atletico Madrid are dominant over Celta Vigo, as they are unbeaten in their last 12 league matches against this opponent.

Atletico Madrid held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw away last time out, and they will only think about bouncing back to winning ways this weekend. They have a decent chance of achieving this feat because Celta Vigo haven’t been a force for them to avoid in recent years, winning eight of their last ten league games.

Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo prediction: Home team to win

Villarreal and Valencia to exchange goals: Villarreal vs Valencia

  • Date: 15/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Both teams effortlessly find the back of the net when they come up against each other, and we think they may repeat the same in the upcoming game.

Villarreal and Valencia scored against themselves in four of their last five La Liga meetings. Valencia scored twice in the last round, while Villarreal scored three times away. There’s a decent chance both teams will score at least one goal each in the upcoming game.

Villarreal vs Valencia prediction: Both teams to score - yes

Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol to find the back of the net: Espanyol vs Athletic Bilbao

  • Date: 16/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 14:00
  • Both teams display their attacking threats when they come up against each other, and we may witness the same in Barcelona this weekend.

Athletic Bilbao may be in a better position than Espanyol in the La Liga standings, but the head-to-head results show that there’s a chance both teams will concede in Barcelona, as they scored against themselves in four of their last five league games.

Espanyol vs Athletic Bilbao prediction: Both teams to score - yes

Real Valladolid and Sevilla will exchange goals: Real Valladolid vs Sevilla

  • Date: 16/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:15
  • Despite underperforming this season, both teams manage to score when they face each other.

Real Valladolid and Sevilla are fond of exchanging goals when they meet in La Liga. Both teams scored in six of their last seven La Liga meetings, and it is only logical to anticipate goals from both clubs in the upcoming game.

Real Valladolid vs Sevilla prediction: Both teams to score - yes

Mallorca and Las Palmas to find the back of the net: Mallorca vs Las Palmas

  • Date: 16/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:30
  • Mallorca may have performed better this season, but when they come up against Las Palmas, they struggle to keep a clean sheet.

Mallorca and Las Palmas are no strangers. They have met against each other both in La Liga and La Liga 2, and most times they exchange goals. In their last three La Liga meetings, both teams found the net on two occasions, and we expect the same to take place in the upcoming encounter.

Mallorca vs Las Palmas prediction: Both teams to score - yes

Real Betis and Real Sociedad will struggle in the final third: Real Betis v Real Sociedad

  • Date: 16/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Both teams struggle to find the back of the net when they come up against each other, and we expect the same in the upcoming encounter.

Real Betis and Real Sociedad appear to run out of ideas in the attacking half when they come up against themselves in La Liga. Their last six La Liga meetings ended with under 2.5 goals, so there’s a chance the upcoming game may follow suit.

Real Betis vs Real Sociedad prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano to exchange goals: Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano

  • Date: 17/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Both teams are in fine form, and we can only anticipate good football from the upcoming game.

Rayo Vallecano are in superb form, winning four of their last five La Liga matches. Barcelona are beginning to win games again, as they won their last three league games with ease. Both teams scored in three of their last five La Liga encounters, and we expect both clubs to play on the front foot.

Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano prediction: Both teams to score - yes
