La Liga 2024/25 predictions: Gameweek 19

09 Feb, 13:35

Real Madrid moved to the top of the La Liga standings following their tight comeback 2-1 win over Valencia away from home, but they may drop to second place when Atletico Madrid host Osasuna in Madrid.

Las Palmas take on Getafe, as Valencia travel to Seville to take on Sevilla, knowing that a win over the Seville outfits will advance their chances of avoiding relegation this term.

This week’s La Liga gameweek 19 predictions were made based on data, current form, and expert knowledge.

La Liga 2024/25 Gameweek 19 Predictions: 10/01/25 - 13/01/25

Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo struggle to create many clear-cut chances: Rayo Vallecano vs Celta Vigo

  • Date: 10/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • The hosts struggle to score goals just as much as they prevent their opponents from scoring goals for fun.

Rayo Vallecano are fond of preventing games from producing three or more goals, evidenced in their last five matches (three games ended with less than three goals). Celta Vigo are scoring goals, but there are concerns that this encounter may be too hard for them to create many goal-scoring chances.

Rayo Vallecano vs Celta Vigo prediction 10/01/2025: Under 2.5 goals

Girona to avoid defeat in Alava: Alaves vs Girona

  • Date: 11/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 14:00
  • Both teams are inconsistent, but Girona will likely avoid defeat in Alava, as they are in better form.

Alaves drew their last four La Liga matches and are winless in their last five league matches, to say the least. Girona may have endured mixed results lately, but they have some brilliant players that can decide games for them, plus they are in better form with two wins in their last five games. The visitors will try to avoid a defeat if winning the game goes out of their reach.

Alaves vs Girona prediction 11/01/2025: Away team to win or draw

Real Betis to win in at least one half: Real Valladolid vs Real Betis

  • Date: 11/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:15
  • Real Betis are in better form and will likely outscore the hosts in at least one half.

Real Valladolid are at the bottom of the La Liga table with 12 points, having lost 12 of their last 18 matches. They do not have the quality to shut out Real Betis, who are pushing for a place in the top six, from winning in at least one half.

Real Valladolid vs Real Betis prediction 11/01/2025: Away team to win either half - yes

Espanyol and Leganes to struggle in the final third: Espanyol vs Leganes

  • Date: 11/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:30
  • Both teams struggle to score goals, which suggest this encounter will lack goals.

Espanyol scored 16 goals in 18 league matches, while Leganes scored 17 goals in 18 La Liga matches. Both teams have displayed on several occasions that they find it difficult to score more than one goal per league game, and we expect the trend to continue when both teams meet in Barcelona.

Espanyol vs Leganes prediction 11/01/2025: Under 2.5 goals

Sevilla and Valencia to exchange goals: Sevilla vs Valencia

  • Date: 11/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Sevilla may be in better form, but their shaky backline suggests they are unlikely to keep a clean sheet against Valencia.

Valencia’s dressing room mood improved when they scored a goal against Real Madrid last time out, although they lost the tie 2-1 despite scoring first. We believe both teams can exchange goals due to Sevilla's infrequent clean sheet record and Valencia's eagerness to escape the relegation zone.

Sevilla vs Valencia prediction 11/01/2025: Both teams to score - yes

Las Palmas and Getafe to struggle in the final third: Las Palmas vs Getafe

  • Date: 12/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 14:00
  • Matches involving Getafe rarely produce three or more goals, and we expect the upcoming encounter to follow suit.

Getafe came up against the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, and three goals or more weren’t scored in any of those games. Only one of their last 16 matches across all competitions ended with over 2.5 goals, which hints this encounter may follow suit.

Las Palmas vs Getafe prediction 12/01/2025: Under 2.5 goals

Atletico Madrid to maintain their winning momentum: Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna

  • Date: 12/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 16:15
  • Atletico Madrid are the most in-form team in La Liga in recent weeks, and we expect them to continue their winning run this weekend.

Osasuna are winless in their last five matches, having drawn four of those games. However, their current form isn’t good enough for their fans to expect any positive result in Madrid, as Atletico Madrid are in better form, having won their last seven La Liga games.

Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna prediction 12/01/2025: Home team to win

Real Sociedad and Villarreal to lack intriguing moments: Real Sociedad vs Villarreal

  • Date: 13/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 21:00
  • Villarreal may have one of the best attacks in the country, but they come up against a team with one of the best defenses in La Liga, which suggests this encounter may lack goals.

Villarreal may have scored 34 goals and conceded 30 goals in 18 league matches, but it is unlikely that this encounter will deliver three or more goals because Real Sociedad have the second-best defense in the country, having conceded 15 goals in 18 matches. They don’t score many goals, and they don’t concede many as well. Both teams may score goals, but scoring three or more goals in this encounter will require more than a miracle.

Real Sociedad vs Villarreal prediction: Under 2.5 goals
