CAF World Cup Qualification: Predictions 25/03/2025

09 Feb, 13:35

Nigeria improved their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup following a comfortable 2-0 win over Rwanda away from home, and they are aware they cannot slip up in their next game against Zimbabwe at home.

South Africa, who beat Lesotho 2-0 at home, has a tricky game against Benin away from home. Egypt and Senegal will entertain their home support when they welcome Sierra Leone and Togo, respectively.

This round’s CAF World Cup Qualification predictions were based on current form, home advantage, and expert knowledge.

CAF World Cup Qualification Predictions: 25/03/2025

Botswana to bounce back to winning ways: Botswana vs Somalia

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 14:00
  • Somalia has struggled in recent matches, and their poor form away from home may force them to fall short against Botswana.

Botswana needs to bounce back to winning ways and restart their pursuit of World Cup football following their 3-1 home loss to Algeria. They host Somalia next, and having won the first leg 3-1 away from home, we expect the Zebras to secure yet another convincing win.

Botswana vs Somalia prediction: Home team to win

Benin to avoid a defeat in front of their fans: Benin vs South Africa

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:00
  • Benin lost the first leg in Pretoria, so we expect them to capitalize on their home advantage and push for the win or draw.

South Africa won the first leg at home, but Benin is a difficult side to contain in their stadium. Having won against Nigeria 2-1, we think they can hold the Bafana Bafana to a draw or possibly go for the win.

Benin vs South Africa prediction: Home team to win

Rwanda to bounce back to winning ways: Rwanda vs Lesotho

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:00
  • Lesotho are dreadful away from home, and we don’t expect them to turn things around against a wounded Rwanda side.

Rwanda lost at home 2-0 to Nigeria, so we can anticipate a much-improved performance from them against a Lesotho side that lost to South Africa on the road by a similar result. Home advantage helps in this competition, so we can lean on the hosts to get the win.

Rwanda vs Lesotho prediction: Home team to win

Uganda and Guinea will struggle in the attacking half: Uganda vs Guinea

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:00
  • Both teams struggle to score goals when they face each other, and the upcoming game might be no different.

Less than three goals were scored in two of their last three meetings. Although the first leg of the competition ended with three goals, we expect the upcoming game to be dry.

Uganda vs Guinea prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Nigeria to maintain their winning momentum: Nigeria vs Zimbabwe

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:00
  • Nigeria enjoy coming up against Zimbabwe, and their previous encounters suggest they are likely to get the win.

Both countries have met a few times, but Nigeria hasn’t experienced a defeat against Zimbabwe. Their last three meetings ended with less than three goals, and two of these encounters ended in draws, and the Super Eagles won the last one. This is a must-not-lose game, so we expect Nigeria, who beat Rwanda away from home, to get the win.

Nigeria vs Zimbabwe prediction: Home team to win

Angola and Cape Verde will struggle in the final third: Angola vs Cape Verde

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:00
  • Matches involving either team rarely produce many goals, and we expect the upcoming game to follow suit.

Angola’s last five competitive matches ended with less than three goals, while Cape Verde’s last six matches ended with under 2.5 goals. Both teams met twice in recent years, but less than three goals were scored in one encounter. We can anticipate the same from the upcoming game.

Angola vs Cape Verde prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Egypt to do the double over Sierra Leone: Egypt vs Sierra Leone

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:00
  • Egypt won the first leg with a man down at ease, so we expect them to finish the job off in front of their fans.

Sierra Leone may have won their last game against Guinea-Bissau, but they struggle away from home, so we expect the Egyptians to build on their victory over Ethiopia when they host Sierra Leone this weekend.

Egypt vs Sierra Leone prediction: Home team to win

Cameroon to bounce back to winning ways after Eswatini setback: Cameroon vs Libya

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:00
  • Libya have struggled to maintain consistency, and coming up against a Cameroon side with zero defeats in their last seven competitive games away from home is a huge mountain to climb.

Cameroon are unbeaten in their last seven competitive matches across all competitions, and because they play better in front of their fans and haven’t lost at home against Libya, who has struggled to maintain consistency in recent games, we expect the hosts to take all available points.

Cameroon vs Libya prediction: Home team to win

Senegal to take all available points in front of their fans: Senegal vs Togo

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 22:00
  • Togo are inconsistent, and their current form doesn’t suggest they can trouble a well-organized Senegal side away from home.

Senegal are unbeaten in their last six competitive matches, winning five and drawing one. They played two friendly matches and avoided a defeat in both. Having played a draw in the first leg, we expect Sadio Mane’s side to capitalize on their home advantage coupled with their beautiful style of play and get the win over Togo.

Senegal vs Togo prediction: Home team to win

Algeria to continue their fine form: Algeria vs Mozambique

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 22:00
  • Mozambique may have registered some impressive wins, but the quality of their squad isn’t good enough to dream of a win against the Algiers.

Algeria are in superb form, having won six and drawn one in their last seven competitive matches. They thrashed Botswana 3-1 away from home in their CAF WC Qualifiers, and having already won the first leg, we expect Algeria to finish the job off in front of their fans.

Algeria vs Mozambique prediction: Home team to win

DR Congo and Mauritania will struggle in the attacking half: Mauritania vs DR Congo

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 22:00
  • Matches involving either team rarely produce many goals, so we expect the upcoming game to be uneventful.

Mauritania’s last six competitive matches ended with less than three goals, while six of DR Congo’s last seven matches finished with under 2.5 goals. The first leg ended in a 2-0 win for DR Congo, so we can anticipate yet another low-scoring event in the upcoming game.

Mauritania vs DR Congo prediction: Under 2.5 goals

Morocco and Tanzania to delight fans with goals: Morocco vs Tanzania

  • Date: 25/03/2025
  • Kick-off: 22:00
  • Matches involving Morocco usually end with goals, so we can anticipate the same from the upcoming game.

Although Tanzania’s last five competitive matches ended with under 2.5 goals, the upcoming game is likely to produce three or more goals because five of Morocco’s previous six matches ended with three or more goals. Their most recent meeting ended in a 3-0 home win for Morocco, and three of their last four meetings ended similarly, so expecting three or more goals from the upcoming game isn’t a stretch.

Morocco vs Tanzania prediction: Over 2.5 goals
