Predictions for the 5th Round of the Bundesliga, September 26-28

09 Feb, 13:35

Bayern vs Werder

The 5th round of our beloved Bundesliga will kick off with a Friday match at the “Allianz Arena,” where Vincent Kompany's ruthless Bayern will attempt another thrashing—this time against Werder Bremen. The Munich team unsurprisingly tops the league table, while Werder, under new coach Horst Steffen, is experiencing a turbulent start to the season: big wins alternate with equally big losses. The favorite is obvious. In three of the four matches where the Bremen side did not succeed, they conceded at least three times.

Match Prediction for Bayern vs Werder: Bayern to win with a handicap (-2.5)

Mainz vs Borussia Dortmund

The Saturday program will open with a match at the “Mewa Arena,” where Mainz will try to secure their first win of the season in front of their home fans. Borussia Dortmund, aiming to stay close to Bayern and still unbeaten, will be the visitors. An intriguing match: last season, the opponents exchanged home victories with the same score of 3:1.

Match Prediction for Mainz vs Borussia Dortmund: total over 2.5 goals

Wolfsburg vs Leipzig

After their first defeat of the season to Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg will host Leipzig at the “Volkswagen Arena,” who, after a setback in the opening round, have secured three consecutive wins. Last season, both matches went to the “Bulls,” but now the odds are almost even. We believe Leipzig will not lose, considering their form and the fact that the “Wolves” have yet to win at home.

Match Prediction for Wolfsburg vs Leipzig: Leipzig will not lose

Heidenheim vs Augsburg

Heidenheim remains the only team in the championship without points—Frank Schmidt's squad has suffered four consecutive defeats. Augsburg, who started with a win but then lost three times, will visit the “Voith Arena.” Therefore, the visitors do not appear to be outright favorites. Last season, Heidenheim thrashed the “Fuggers” 4:0, but given the current form of the hosts, a repeat of such a scenario is unlikely.

Match Prediction for Heidenheim vs Augsburg: Augsburg will not lose

St. Pauli vs Bayer

The “Brown-and-Whites” suffered their first defeat of the season in Stuttgart. At their “Millerntor,” the team traditionally fights for points and will try to stop Bayer, who in the last round let a win slip against Borussia Mönchengladbach in injury time. Despite being favorites, the Leverkusen side is experiencing defensive issues—conceding in every round.

Match Prediction for St. Pauli vs Bayer: both teams to score (yes)

Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Eintracht

It happened: Gladbach scored their first goal of the season! However, as with Heidenheim, the team has yet to taste victory. Eintracht Frankfurt will visit Borussia-Park – a team whose matches consistently turn into goal-scoring spectacles. However, after a successful start (two wins), Dino Toppmöller's "Eagles" have lost twice and veered off course. It's important to remember: Borussia has not beaten Eintracht in nine consecutive matches, and in all of Frankfurt's matches this season, the total has exceeded 2.5 goals.

Prediction for the Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Eintracht match: total over 2.5 goals

Freiburg vs Hoffenheim

After two defeats at the start, Julian Schuster's team has recovered: two consecutive wins, scoring three goals in each. Hoffe traditionally plays high-scoring games, but doesn't always secure points. It's logical to bet based on the high scoring potential of both teams and their head-to-head history.

Prediction for the Freiburg vs Hoffenheim match: total over 2.5 goals

Cologne vs Stuttgart

The "Billy Goats" lost to Leipzig in the last round – it was their third away game in four rounds. At home at the RheinEnergieStadion, they have already defeated Freiburg. Stuttgart, on the other hand, has collected maximum points at home but lost both away matches. Therefore, despite the bookmakers' odds, it will not be easy for the favorite. Especially since both Cologne and Stuttgart have scored in all matches of the new season.

Prediction for the Cologne vs Stuttgart match: both teams to score (yes)

Union vs Hamburg

Union surprised many, including us, with a victory over Eintracht in Frankfurt. This is Steffen Baumgart's team's second win in four rounds. Hamburg, meanwhile, secured their first victory in the last round by defeating Heidenheim at home in a battle of the underdogs. The home team's forwards, Oliver Burke and Ilyas Ansa, who scored in the last match, are in good form – the visitors' defense will face a tough challenge at the "An der Alten Försterei".

Prediction for the Union vs Hamburg match: Union's individual total over 1.5 goals
