Predictions for the 24th round of the Bundesliga, February 27th – March 1st

04 Mar, 10:18

Augsburg vs Cologne

The 24th round will kick off with a match at the "WWK Arena" between Augsburg and Cologne. Last weekend, both clubs were involved in high-scoring games, but the last three head-to-head encounters ended with the same "under" score of 1:1. We won't risk betting on the total, but we expect both teams to score (yes), as has been the case in six consecutive head-to-head matches.

Match prediction for Augsburg vs Cologne: both teams to score (yes)

Bayer vs Mainz

After a successful unbeaten run, Leverkusen faltered in Berlin and failed to even secure a draw against Union (0:1) in the last round. However, the team successfully advanced to the Round of 16 in the Champions League. Mainz, on the other hand, failed to secure three points in their home match against Hamburg (1:1), thus risking falling closer to the relegation zone, as they have been unable to defeat Bayer in five consecutive head-to-head matches.

Match prediction for Bayer vs Mainz: Bayer to win

Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Union

The hosts cannot break their winless streak – in the last seven matches, Gladbach has only secured three points. By the end of this round, the "Foals" could find themselves in the relegation zone if they lose to Union, who just last Saturday managed to end their seven-match winless streak. The Berliners feel comfortable in the middle of the table, but that doesn't mean they don't need points.

Match prediction for Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Union: both teams to score (yes)

Hoffenheim vs St. Pauli

The "Blue-Whites" return to Sinsheim after a draw in Cologne (2:2), but thanks to the slip-ups of their competitors, they continue to hold the third spot. At the "PreZero Arena," Hoffenheim has won eight matches in a row, and St. Pauli is a suitable opponent for a ninth home victory. Alexander Blessin's team is desperately fighting for survival, but in the last 11 away Bundesliga matches, they have only secured two points.

Match prediction for Hoffenheim vs St. Pauli: Hoffenheim to win

Werder vs Heidenheim

In the last round, the Bremen team lost to one of their main rivals in the relegation battle – St. Pauli (1:2), thus extending their winless streak to 13 rounds and dropping to second-to-last place. This Saturday, they face another direct competitor, who also hasn't won in 10 consecutive rounds. Both teams are vulnerable in defense, so we expect goals from both sides, as has been the case in the last six head-to-head meetings.

Match prediction for Werder vs Heidenheim: both teams to score (yes)

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich

The central match of the round will take place on Saturday evening at the “Signal Iduna Park”. After this “Der Klassiker”, the intrigue in the championship will either remain or practically disappear. We lean towards the latter, as Bayern has not lost in Dortmund for seven matches in a row. Moreover, Niko Kovac's team had a tough emotional and physical match in the Champions League on Wednesday, after which Borussia was eliminated.

Match prediction for Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich: Bayern win

Stuttgart vs Wolfsburg

The “Swabians” maintain good chances of qualifying for the Champions League, especially if they continue to perform successfully at their home “MHP Arena”. Sebastian Hoeneß's team will try to celebrate their coach's hundredth match at the helm in the Bundesliga with a victory. Wolfsburg has not won for six rounds in a row and is one of the worst teams in the league in terms of goals conceded. After dropping points in Heidenheim, Stuttgart must defeat the “Wolves”.

Match prediction for Stuttgart vs Wolfsburg: Stuttgart win

Eintracht vs Freiburg

An equally exciting game awaits us at the “Deutsche Bank Park”, where table neighbors will meet. Eighth-placed Eintracht is two points behind seventh-placed Freiburg and eight points away from sixth place, which grants a spot in European competitions. A defeat this Saturday for either team will likely complicate their fight for the top-6. Frankfurt has been inconsistent throughout the season, and Julian Schuster's team has not impressed away from home, so we expect a high-scoring match, as was the case in the first round.

Match prediction for Eintracht vs Freiburg: total over 2.5 goals

Hamburg vs Leipzig

The final game of the round will be held at the “Volksparkstadion”, where Hamburg has not lost for seven matches in a row. Merlin Polzin's team's current form is also impressive – six rounds without defeat, allowing the newcomer to stay in the middle of the table. Leipzig, on the other hand, has left the Champions League zone, winning only one match in the last five rounds. Clearly, it will be very challenging for the “Red Bulls” to take three points from the north of Germany.

Match prediction for Hamburg vs Leipzig: both teams to score (yes)
