Bundesliga 2024/25 predictions: Gameweek 20: 31/01-02/02

09 Feb, 13:35

Bayer Leverkusen dropped points last weekend following their 2-2 draw against RB Leipzig away from home, and as a result, they now sit six points behind Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga standings. However, Xabi Alonso’s side has a decent chance to bounce back to winning ways when they host struggling Hoffenheim this weekend.

Bayern Munich will try to extend the gap at the top of the standings when they welcome relegation-threatened Holstein Kiel on Saturday.

This week’s Bundesliga gameweek 20 predictions were based on current form, data and expert knowledge.

Bundesliga 2024/25 gameweek 20 predictions: 31/01/2025 - 02/02/2025

Mainz to receive two or more warnings: Werder Bremen vs Mainz

  • Date: 31/01/2025
  • Kick-off: 20:30
  • Mainz are fond of making several late tackles, and we think they may receive two or more warnings against Werder Bremen.

Mainz averaged 2.3 yellow cards per game in 19 Bundesliga games, and there’s a chance they may receive two or more yellow cards against Werder Bremen, as the hosts have some fast players that can trick Mainz into making a couple of late tackles.

Werder Bremen vs Mainz prediction: Away total yellow cards: Over 1.5

St Pauli and Augsburg to exchange goals: St. Pauli vs Augsburg

  • Date: 01/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:30
  • Both teams look somewhat even, and we can anticipate goals from both ends.

St. Pauli may have issues in the attack, but Augsburg’s shaky backline has struggled to keep clean sheets this season, having conceded 34 goals in 19 games. The hosts won three of their last five matches, which suggests they are in decent form to get at least one goal against Augsburg.

St. Pauli vs Augsburg prediction: Both teams to score - yes

Bayern Munich to dominate in both halves: Bayern Munich vs Holstein Kiel

  • Date: 01/02/2023
  • Kick-off: 15:30
  • Holstein Kiel are in die form and are unexpected to match Bayern’s energy in both halves.

Bayern Munich are in superb form, having lost just once in 19 games. They scored 58 goals in the process, and because Holstein Kiel has conceded 43 goals in 19 games, it suggests that the Bavarians can outscore the guests in both halves.

Bayern Munich vs Holstein Kiel prediction: Home team to both halves - yes

Bochum and Freiburg to delight fans with goals: Bochum vs Freiburg

  • Date: 01/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:30
  • Matches involving either team regularly end with three or more goals, and we think the upcoming game may end similarly.

Bochum averaged 3.15 goals per game in 19 league matches, while Freiburg averaged 3.26 goals per game in 19 league games. Both teams averaged over 2.5 goals per game, and there’s a chance the upcoming game may follow suit.

Bochum vs Freiburg prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Stuttgart and Monchengladbach to display their attacking mastery: Stuttgart vs Borussia Monchengladbach

  • Date: 01/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:30
  • Matches involving either team usually end with three or more goals, and there’s a chance the upcoming game may end similarly.

Stuttgart averaged 3.36 goals per game in 19 league games, while Borussia Monchengladbach averaged 3.10 goals per game in 19 games. Both teams averaged over 2.5 goals per game, and there’s a possibility that the upcoming game may follow suit.

Stuttgart vs Borussia Monchengladbach prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Heidenheim and Borussia Dortmund to display their attacking prowess: Heidenheim vs Borussia Dortmund

  • Date: 01/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:30
  • Goals are relatively scored in matches involving either team, and the upcoming game may not end differently.

Heidenheim averaged 3.36 goals per game in 19 league matches, while Borussia Dortmund averaged 3.52 goals per game in 19 matches. Both teams averaged over three goals per game; we can safely anticipate three or more goals from the upcoming encounter.

Heidenheim vs Borussia Dortmund prediction: Over 2.5 goals

RB Leipzig to win in at least one half: Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig

  • Date: 01/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 18:30
  • Union Berlin are in poor form, and we doubt they can match RB Leipzig’s energy in both halves.

Union Berlin have underperformed in recent weeks, having lost four of their last five league games. Not only are they in poor form, their attack is blunt and touted as one of the worst in the Bundesliga. RB Leipzig managed to hold Bayer Leverkusen to a 2-2 draw at home; they will undoubtedly capitalize on this by winning against Union Berlin. However, we expect them to outscore the hosts in either half.

Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig prediction: Away team to win either half: yes

Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg to display their attacking strength: Eintracht Frankfurt vs Wolfsburg

  • Date: 02/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 15:30
  • Both teams are superb goal-scoring sides and will not resist to show it in Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt averaged 3.68 goals per game in 19 league matches, while Wolfsburg averaged 4.00 goals per game in 19 league games. Both teams averaged over 2.5 goals; we can safely expect this game to follow suit.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Wolfsburg prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Bayer Leverkusen to bounce back to winning ways: Bayer Leverkusen vs Hoffenheim

  • Date: 02/02/2025
  • Kick-off: 17:30
  • Hoffenheim are unlikely to stage a fight thanks to their poor form.

Hoffenheim lost three of their last five league matches and are currently fighting against relegation. Bayer are six points behind Bayern Munich, and they cannot afford to drop further points against a struggling team, as they still believe they can win the division.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Hoffenheim prediction: Home team to win
