Premier League European places 2025/26: Which teams have qualified for UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League?
The battle to secure a place in the 2025/26 Champions League campaign gets intense every week, with many expecting the showdown to be decided on the final day.
The Premier League is expected to send five teams to the Champions League next season following Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid on April 8. How did this arrangement come about? The Premier League traditionally sends only the teams that finished in the top four to the UCL. However, one of the extra spots was allocated to them through the European Performance Spots (EPS), thanks to how the English teams have performed in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League this term.
Which Premier League teams have qualified for Europe next season 2025/26?
We have arranged the number of Premier League teams that have qualified for the 2025/26 European competitions in descending order.
Qualified teams:
- Liverpool (1st placed)
- Arsenal (2nd placed)
- Manchester City (3rd placed)
- Chelsea (4th placed)
- Newcastle United (5th placed)
- Tottenham (Europa League winners)
Liverpool have successfully booked their place in the 2025/26 Champions League campaign for next season, having won the Premier League four matches early. Arsenal finished as the runners-up for the third time in a row. Manchester City finished in third place, three points behind the Gunners, after enduring mixed reactions for much of the campaign.
Chelsea finishing in fourth place didn’t come as a surprise to anyone, thanks to their big wins in their last three games against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest. Newcastle United, who lost 1-0 at home to Everton, still finished in 5th place and qualified for the Champions League because Aston Villa succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford against Manchester United. Tottenham are also part of the six Premier League teams that will participate in the Champions League next season after beating Manchester United to the Europa League glory in Bilbao.
UEFA Europa League
Qualified teams:
- Aston Villa (6th placed)
- Crystal Palace (FA Cup winners)
Aston Villa will play in the Europa League next season, having finished in sixth place in the Premier League. They will be joined by Crystal Palace, who won the FA Cup (1-0) against Manchester City.
Chelsea were initially aspirants for the Europa League, as they have a Conference League final against Real Betis, but that has changed since the Blues will now compete in the Champions League next term, having finished in 4th in the Premier League. If Chelsea went on to win the Conference League, their Europa League spot will not be allocated to 8th-placed Brighton because of their qualification to the Champions League.
UEFA Conference League
Qualified teams:
Nottingham Forest (7th placed)
Newcastle United had a slot in the Conference League for next season after winning the Carabao Cup early this year, but they will not participate in it, as they already qualified for the Champions League through their top five finish in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest, who spent most of the campaign fighting for the Champions League, will be the only Premier League team participating in the Conference League, having finished in 7th place.
