Manchester United should have completed 90% of their summer transfer signings ahead of their pre-season, given how they performed in all competitions last season, but they have rather moved too slowly in completing deals.

Man United finished in 15th place in the Premier League last season, lost 1-0 to Tottenham in the Europa League final, in what would have been their route to the Champions League, and fell short in domestic cups.

Given how United’s transfer activities have gone so far, many Manchester United fans are slashing their hopes for next season, with a few suggesting that last season might be better than the upcoming season. Fair enough, given how many average players are still at the club.

Manchester United may be a few days away from starting their pre-season, but it is very likely they are going to welcome one or two fresh legs before the season starts in August.

Matheus Cunha

Manchester United signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves shortly after the end of last season for a reported £62.5m. The Brazil international became Ruben Amorim’s first summer signing, and his arrival is expected to create more attacking threat higher up the pitch. Because he is versatile, the 26-year-old forward can also play as a no. 9 if the Red Devils fail to sign a top-quality striker this summer.

Diego Leon

Manchester United lured Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno for a reported £3.3m transfer fee that could rise to £7m due to add-ons. It is unclear if the 18-year-old left-back will be part of the United first team for next season, as United already have the likes of Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu, and Harry Amass for the left-back role.
